So I read the message, but have sold on ebay for 7-8 months I guess, what's the free 5 listings?

I seem to remember that some of my listings from the previous 8-10 days or so didn't show up on my weekly "fees due" invoice, so perhaps that explains it. When did you get this message... I haven't seen anything in my mailbox recently...?? Perhaps it's an ongoing promotion, and I've already exceeded my allotment. Not a bad deal in any case, so take advantage of it if you can.

You might want to take a closer look at that: the fees generated by the sale of items listed free is actually different (and in many cases higher) than what you pay using a regular listing.

Hey, if you don't believe me just ask the Admiral:

every 30 days you'll get 5 free listings.......BUT, the final value fee is 8.75% period. So if your item sells for over $25 then you'll end up paying a lot more in final value fees than normal. Under $25 the fvf is 8.75 anyay, so you're not being harmed there.

So it's a good deal if you list things that will sell for under $25...but over that it becomes a scam...or should i say another scam..from ebay.

It's official, sign me up as an eBay hater.

Hmmm..... well, I honestly don't remember... but as best that I can recall there wasn't any way to "opt out" of the "free" listing, or at least if there was, I sure don't remember seeing it... When I was setting up my auction it simply showed the current listing fee as $0.00 So, If there is some way to opt out of these "free" listings I would sure like to know how to do it, because if I'm setting up an auction that's over the $25 threshold they can take their free listing and stick it where the sun don't shine...

there's no way to opt out that i know of. I just make sure that when my free listing start appearing that i am listing stuff that sells for under $25, so i won't get burned on the FVF.

I guess what you could do is list 5 bogus items with a buy it now of a penny. Nobody will bid on them if you make the listing unsearchable with jibberish words and it will use up your 5 free listings. It will probably cost ebay a little bit too because they will have to run the auctions......sort of sticking it back to them.

Yeh, I sort of suspected that was the case, but thanks for confirming it.

I did some reading after I read this post and if I remember correctly, they take even more after you 5 free listings, 8,75% + more !!!!
