I had an F-18 I bought off of Ebay back in 2006 come in a box like that...and yup the F-18 breaks in two. Probably comes from Canada.

Looks like the manufacturer pulled that chopper from the warehouse and found an open box and just put a label on it. Strange way to package an item I must say.

I have an LAV and an Abrams boxed that way. Both came from one of the popular online retailers (can't recall which one).

I saw an F-18 packaged like that once on ebay. You guys will think I'm crazy but I think the auction said it came from Sears online. :?

Maybe I am crazy. Too much CA glue?

I do remember back in the day that Sears DID have F-18's that were packaged similar to this.

It is not uncommon for mail order only items to be in plain boxes like that. Why spend extra money on fancy packaging when the product will never be viewed by the purchaser before it is bought.
