Got mine just this afternoon. Must say I was impressed with their overall appearance. The Box is probably one of my favorite parts. It’s a simple black and silver design and has absolutely no company markings on it any ware. The only place that says 21st Century Toys is on the inside of the figures legs. Most of the heads are recognizable from previous issues but in the black uniforms they look fantastic. Two of the figures have the old-style S-1 knee joints. I don’t really care for that but these figures do tend to fit better in vehicles and could be used as drivers. I didn’t pull all the figures out but I did notice that the helmets, at least the two that I pulled out, look a little deformed. This is probably due to the package design. My favorite of all the figures are the two open and two closed coat figures. Also the boots are all very shiny and the swastika arm bands are very crisp and clean. I think this is a fine set to have. I seriously doubt anything like this will pop up again anytime soon. I do think it’s funny that 21C would even produce these in the first place. It’s quite obvious that they don’t really want to be affiliated with it. For the price I highly recommend the set. One other thing, my set did appear to have been opened at one time or another. I notice that it had been re-taped. Nothing was missing so all is well but I still think that’s kind of odd. The tape was the same as the factory tape. Anyone else experience this? I think it’s possible that the sets were re-opened by 21C to add the weapons set baggie to the container but that’s pure speculation.

Good review. I'll add my thoughts:
1) I was glad that USPS Priority was actually Priority - unlike some other places. But I will say I paid about $10 more for shipping than the amount of postage on the box. This was a little steep IMO, although I know using USPS is more labor intensive for the Etailers than UPS/FedEx.
2) I did not like the packaging. Like said, there was unsightly tape on the front which basically kills it as a display piece. And the cardboard box has frayed edges which I would not mind except this is one piece where you will surely want the box as a part of it. Finally, the plastic container inside the box - that pinches the figures - will take a bit of paint with it when you pluck a fig or helmet out if you are not careful. On black figures even a little mark is highly visible. The good thing is that the box is numbered out of 5000.
3) There is not enough gear for all the holes. Terrible and no excuse for that. Basically the body of the bob closed coat german has the holes for the MP-44 ammo but no ammo holders. Also, the older legs mentioned above have the old boots - which means no hole for figure stand! Lastly, I would have liked the holes in the back of the Infantry for the kit like on the S1 figs, rather than the akward strap with kit that came with the bob open coat german.
4) The paint job and detail is pretty damn nice. They are very impressive on display. I like the idea of army builder sets like this so I have to give it a full endorsement, but it just seems that a few minor details could have been seen to. Still worth picking up a set if you have the extra toy money around.

Remember, "goo gone" will remove adhesive/tape and stickers from anything without damaging the underlying surface at all.
BTW, I was thinking that I had wished the ltd. edition sticker to be on the back of the box instead of the front. What preference do you guys have in this area?

cool
Corey, thanks for the follow-up. Just more of the good service/communication we have come to love from SJ.
I don't mind the LE sticker on the front, but now that you mention it I guess it does take something away from the ominous front...

I didn't mind it on the cover at all. I just thought it could have been a neater looking sticker. Has anyone ever bought limited edition Hot Wheels? They have some real neat xxx of xxx stickers on them. I think it just helps make it a little more special to the collector. I hope they make some more limited edition sets like these in the future. What ever happened to those other troop building kits we heard about a while ago? By the way, thanks for picking these items up. They were a risky item to carry but I’m glad you did it. I hope they all sell out fast for you.BTW, I was thinking that I had wished the ltd. edition sticker to be on the back of the box instead of the front. What preference do you guys have in this area?

that really sucks, i had pre ordered those also and waited several weeks, before emailing to enquire about them just to see that the site was closed that made me mad i received no email to tell me they were closing but luckilly i did not get charged.ARMY GROUP 1 wrote:ORDERED MINE, NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD SURFACE AFTER LOSING $180US COLD WHEN THE PRE-ORDER WITH SMALL BLUE PLANET WENT BUST & THEY STOPPED REPLYING TO MY REQUEST FOR A REFUND. YES THEY WERE $150 A BOX, SO I SEE THIS FIGURE OF $90 QUITE REASONABLE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
when they were offered about a year ago i was curious who they were made by because it didnt say anything about the manufacturer.
and i still didnt see it listed on smalljoes site.
but now that mine are here i was a little dissapointed because there just the ultimate soldier xd series 1 germans and the bob german long coats.
im kind of tired of 21c using the same heads over and over.
and i really cant stand the head for the bob german trenchcoat guy.
but this is still a pretty cool set and save customizing time and the set of 16 comes out to about $5 so its not anymore than you would pay anyway.
i just wish they could have made 2 simple new arms uniforn arm and coat arm instead of just painting the armbands on.
