i saw that a few days ago. It's supposed to be a 37mm gun. It looks like a 1/32 88mm that he's grafted onto an xd halftrack.
It's nothing real anyway. Nice paint job though. If somebody want's something like that they may as well get the new pioneerwagen thing.

If you do your Homework, serious research, you will find that this Sdkfz251/10 did indeed exist,
Inside and out, The pak gun is a little over scale, I do admit, Other than that, It is as real as it gets even down to firing platform, If the woofer builds it, original war time photo’s were used to go buy, Fact not Fiction, ---No offence intended ---I hope none is taken---.

Well, the 251/10 was armed with a pak 36, and that doesn't really look like a pak 36 to me, i've never seen a shield like that either. Usually they had no shield at all or the same shield that was on the wheeled anti tank gun version.
I'll do some digging and learn though..

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-18-ULTIMATE-SOLDI ... dZViewItem[/url] Just found this custom 88.
88
Does anyone have any stats on the 88 that show this one to be 1/16? It looks smaller than that and I don't know we've ever concluded one way or the other.

Re: 88
Denix made two sizes of the 88. This one is close to 1/18, but a little larger (could be 1/16). Still looks good with the 1/18 troops! I have one and it goes really well with XD figures.digger wrote:Does anyone have any stats on the 88 that show this one to be 1/16? Here is a pic that shows one in a diorama for R/C tanks. Has a shield added but you can see how the size equates to the XD as the soldier in the front of the 88 is an XD example!

Again I admit the gun is off, About the shield, The German army experimented with several types of shields, Some tracks had no shields, some had the wheeled anti tank gun version, as you stated, also some were fitted with parcel shields, Mostly on the left side to protect the gunner, some were fitted with a smaller style shield like mine, which protected the whole gun crew(They had a hole cut in so the gunner could sight his target) "left side" I did not put this sight hole in mine, a oversight on my behalf that has been corrected, also they had a modified version with a smaller shield version like mine with the wheeled version shield behind it, (double protection for the gun crew, Trust me i know all my custom work is not 100% accurate but I do the best I can at trying to give Hobbyist and collectors a little something different, and I try to stay in the bounds of reality, I will also mention this form is a great asset to my work so keep it going and thanks again,

i can confirm that the diecast 88 is indeed all of 1/16 scale. I had one. In fact i would say it's closer to 1/15. The span of the legs is 14 inches, which is 21 feet and on the real gun it was 17 feet and some odd inches. In other words it should be less than 12 inches to be 1/18. That makes the leg span about 15% too big which makes it larger than 1/16.
The gun is also molded with the barrel in recoil....no way of fixing it.
It's a nice piece but definitely overscale. I think with a few more months of patience we will see an 88 in 1/18 scale. If not, these denix diecast guns will always be around.

no
Not quite. I have one right here. The width at the widest point is 13.4 and the other set of legs stretch 13.2 - still too big but really not that bad. For such an important piece I am more likely to accept "almost" - for oddball jets and rocket planes I think it makes less sense.
I don't mind the recoiled position - you can pretend it's firing (or not, most people wouldn't know the difference in a dio).

The dio belongs to the local 1/16 R/C club, I think MAAD (Mid Atlantic Armor Division). They maintain everything and furnish the accessories. It is a blast to watch these guys put on one of their battles. Someone is usually there every weekend putting their tank through the paces! I usually go up and visit the AAF Tank Museum once a year in late fall (cooler inside then).lsc1002 wrote:zonetoys, Where did you get those houses/buildings in some of your photos? I know some are XD but who makes the other ones?
I highly recommend a visit if anybody is near the Danville, Va. area!

Man! Those crustoms are just a waste of a good Tiger tank. I'd be ambarassed to have one of those in my collection. I'd be even more embarassed to take credit for making it.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

"stug"
What's funny is he knew to start the bidding at $175 so that one crazy buyer would have to pay it. Something tells me if this one started at a normal price it would not wind up at $175.
