Anyone buy the tan/brown 18th camo Panther out of China?
79.00 plus 30 or so to ship, been on ebay for a while. Still some listed on ebay but at higher price
Re: Anyone buy the tan/brown 18th camo Panther out of China?
you and me both, but when you see what any panther sells for boxed and shipped here, there's not really any price difference, only China post seems to take forever to arrive

That's a very nice scheme! I wonder if that was a non-produced paint master?

Anything is possible........ something 21st never got to release and the factory took the inventory.....
...now for sale?
It does look cool.

Needless to say.......guilty as hell; I had to order one when the listing said "last one". I fell for it. Now there are another 6 for sale
The seller probably has a couple of thousand laying around.

German armour isn't my cup o'tea, but it makes me wonder what unreleased products could be laying around Chinese warehouses (or workers basements). That bbi Marine that was posted a couple of weeks ago looks like a fully-produced ready to ship product that would have to exist somewhere in the thousands.

3-4 years ago, there was a flurry of various 21c prototype vehicles and aircraft being sold through eBay, namely by one particular seller that was either a former 21c employee or which had inherited a cache of their stuff. As I recall, there were a number of interesting prototype items across a variety of scales. 21c was actually toying with 1/6 scale WWII fighters and had some other large scale designs!
However, the Chinese also play a part in this and have been known to make unlicensed "knock offs" where they repaint an existing vehicle using old 21c stock and offer it as new. A few years back, a version of the 21c German 88mm Flak cannon started surfacing on eBay that were painted standard German gray. The only 88mm gun that was released by 21c before they folded was painted in desert tan (DAK). The gray 88s were in the 21c boxes and had all the same parts and accessories. I bought one for about $80 at the time. It turned out to be one of the tan 21c 88s that had been repainted. You could actually see where they got sloppy and left some parts unpainted and still in the original tan color.
I suspect the tan/brown Panther is one of those types of repaints, likely using the last version of the 21c Panther that was released...

Re: Anyone buy the tan/brown 18th camo Panther out of China?
Noticed quite a few Chinese bidders/ winners of my 1:18 collection I had to sell back in April. Some bought multiple items. I did not mind because it drove ending prices up on most everything to let international bidders bid. Really needed the money for a family emergency car accident. More than what people normally pay, or if I'd had sold them to some of you guys. Which I didn't because it came up all of a sudden with no time to bargain.
I could tell they were Chinese because of the correspondence I would get in Chinese or broken English. Though most had a shipping address on the west coast. My guess is they have a way to ship back to China (maybe on a ship container?) less expensively. I wondered if some of these buyers were using them for such a thing as mentioned, to make knock-offs?
I just wondered why so many Chinese bidders would want their plastic toys back? I had encountered this phenomenon a while back with some rare Matrix toys, with a shipping address actually in China. They paid way more than usual. Maybe just some in a burgeoning upper middle class wanting to collect like us Americans?
Anyways I sold a Panther similar or just like this one in (Eastern Front ?) camo, and a Tiger the same look to it. Parting was sweet sorrow but it was a necessity. Still got all my 1:18 planes though, still in it.

I've heard about these auctions but have looked in vain for any photos. What items were sold, anyone on the board have photos or links? I'm VERY sorry I missed out on at least seeing what was for sale.tmanthegreat wrote:3-4 years ago, there was a flurry of various 21c prototype vehicles and aircraft being sold through eBay, namely by one particular seller that was either a former 21c employee or which had inherited a cache of their stuff. All those ebay links would be long expired now, dude. Unless the dealer pops up again or someone here saved the pics to their tech.

Exactly what I was hoping for. I think that seller has posted a few items recently, but all are of known/produced items.[CAT]CplSlade wrote: Unless ... someone here saved the pics to their tech.

Looks like it would be easy to modify the paint job with some camo of your choice.
