BBI F-16 (USAF Thunderbirds Custom) & F-18 (BA) For Sale

Post by Coreyeagle48 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 5:04 pm

Greetings:

Well the time has come for me with some regret to get rid of my custom 1/18 F-16 in USAF Thunderbirds. I want the room for some other things and while I have enjoyed this plane greatly, it is time to pass it onto someone else to enjoy the aircraft.

The airplane was done by Skyworks for me. The airplane has some issues and they are noted below

-The tail and pitot tube are resin copies of the original parts. The pitot tube was missing when I first got the plane and Jack replaced it. The tail went missing when Jack lost it in the mail. Pickelhaube cast me a new one and Jack painted it.

-Some of the paintwork and decals had to be touched up. Although they look okay, they are not perfect. The aircraft was never clear coated and sealed and this should be done to the model to seal the decals. This will be left up to the buyer.

-The exhaust nozzle was brush painted with a silver color to simulate the chrome nozzles that the Thunderbirds used at the time. This got rough due to being done with a brush. It could be left as is but should be sanded down and done over with an airbrush to be right.

-The pilot is present but his head broke at one point. It has been glued back on. Also this plane never came with the boarding ladder when I bought it to be done for a custom.

-Due to the resin tail, the F-16 is tailheavy. This can be remedied by either using a support at the back, hanging it, or adding weight to the cockpit area.

Despite all these issues the plane is an impressive display piece. I have no box for it but would pack it as safely as possible for shipping. Here is a picture of the plane you will be getting. The jet is marked as #3 flown by Nicole Malachowski who was the first woman pilot to be selected to fly with the Thunderbirds

Price and Terms: I spent well over $500 getting this painted and then the replacement tail. I do realize that there are issues and have taken that into consideration with what I am asking for the plane. I would like to get $325 shipped for this plane. I will pack well and insure and delivery confirm. For payment a money order or paypal will be fine but if you are paying thru paypal, you will need to cover my fees.

ADDED

BBI Blue Angels F-18 Hornet. The plane has been displayed but is in mint condition with the pilot and the ladder. I do have the box though it is rough. The decals were never put on but I do have the decal sheet and it will be included. I do not have a picture of the Hornet, but is in mint and displayed condition. Very well taken care of.

The decal sheet has some issues as outlined below.

-The decals have lost their sticky nature and some have slid off the decal sheet. To prevent them from getting lost, I put two pieces of cardboard around the decal sheet and sealed the ends. It will take some work to get the decals to work if you want to put them on your Hornet. Or you could scan the sheet to the computer and print out the decals on decal paper.

-The #5 decals are damaged and can't be used. The other numbers are fine except for the problems outlined above with losing their stick.

----Now for the catch

I'd really like to sell the Hornet and the Falcon together. The reason being is I can ship them together and it would save my costs of packing and boxing. It'd also be a neat collection for someone. If someone is willing to buy both of these planes together and give them a good home, I'd part with the two planes for $525 shipped. This is a tremendous price given what the Hornet goes for on Ebay and the work put into the custom F-16. So if you are interested in both, I want to hear from you.

I think that is it, please send a PM if you are interested. This would be a neat and unique piece for someone's collection!

Thanks,

Corey

Greetings:

An update:

I had these two planes basically packed and ready to go to a board member but the member dropped out on me. A bit frustrating with the time I spent disassembling and getting both planes ready to ship.

So here's the deal.

The member in question was willing to give me $425 shipped for both planes. I had granted that price to be kind...apparently not the right thing to do since the person backed out.

HOWEVER

If someone is willing to match that price of $425, since the planes are ready to be shipped...I will accept that price. PM if you are interested!

Also, I have pulled the F-18 box out of storage and it is very badly damaged. It will not come with the F-18 and instead be recycled.

Thanks,

Corey

Do not know what the outcome is now. It's in Coreys court now.. Things happened on my end which should not have entered into this transaction, which was of no fault at all on Corey's part. One thihg is that this should have stayed in the PM court, but went out to the world. Whatever happens will be his decision. I hold no grudges about him, and only hope he feels the same.
Thank You

Greetings All,

I want to respond to some of JOC's comments here as I feel it is important to do so.

The first thing, I'm sorry JOC feels that I called him out, but never once anywhere in the post JOC did I use your name in any of this until now. I did not call you out by name because we have had deals in the past and I am a nice person and didn't want to do that. All I said was that a "member" had backed out, that was it. Nothing further.

Before I say anything further let me tell everyone here I am flexible. I understand when people have to pull out of deals for a variety of reasons. But this transaction I feel is a little different, JOC requested a paypal invoice and wanted me to send him the invoice immediately so he could send me the money. I take this to mean someone has committed to buying an item from me.

I replied to JOC that I would do so as soon as I got home. Yesterday I had a busy day. I help coach baseball and that kept me afterschool, then I rushed home to change to go to a minor league baseball game and in between the two activities took the time to get the F-16 and F-18 down, take them carefully apart and begin to wrap everything in bubblewrap for shipping. When I got home I log onto GPXD to find an email that JOC no longer wants these because he doesn't have the "space".

I do not really know what happened. If he was upset because I couldn't send him his invoice immediately then he was, I don't spend my entire waking life at a computer screen. I was irritated because I had rushed around on my end to get everything basically packed and ready so I could ship to him right away giving him the courtesy of being a good seller. Since JOC backed out and I had the plane apart, I figured I'd give the F-16 a try on Ebay.

Then this morning, imagine my confusion when JOC responds to this post and now wants the airplanes again. Again a paypal invoice was demanded which would have been hard since I was never given a paypal email address to send the invoice to. But regardless, I politely declined the offer then came the accusation I made him look like a fool when I edited the original selling post. Well no I didn't, I never used his name and never gave any indication who it was. I'm only even writing this because I did not like being accused of calling you out when I didn't and I want people to see this type of situation.

I do not want people to see this situation and see JOC in a bad light. JOC is a great boardmember and we did a deal awhile back and it had gone fine. I want people to see this type of situation to see what is going on behind the scenes in some of these trade deals and why people are getting so upset. There is not a lot of common courtesy being shown here anymore, and it is why more and more members are refusing to sell their stuff here and moving on to other boards.

I probably will not be selling anything anymore on here. It just is too time consuming and frustrating. The F-16 is on Ebay if someone wants it. You may also contact me about the Hornet as I did not list it on Ebay yet.

Thanks,

Corey
