selling autographed Flying Tiger Prints

Post by Cabe » Tue Jul 15, 2008 9:11 am

My doctor's father turned out to be Charlie Bond of the AVG.
She commissioned me to do a painting for him for his 87? or 88th b-day about 6 years ago. The painting was presented to him and I made prints of them to sell.
I had him autograph a bunch and I was saving them but since this is a plane happy crowd and I need the money I could part with a few of them for $50 plus hipping. They are signed by Bond and I would have to look to see how many are left. The only damage I saw was in the center of the prints, over time the weight settled towards the middle causing a weird kind of slight ripple, not anything a professional dry mount wouldn't fix and isn't that noticeable anyway.
Oh and these are not cheap-o prints. They were done at an art print and giclee company and are not just something printed out on my inklet computer.
They are signed by me and Col. Bond.
I will include a pic of him with the painting for some proof he signed them, I think I may have around 20 left, but then again... i would have to look. There are not many aces left from ww2 and flying tiger aces are a rare bunch.
here is a link to some info on him, it has another piece of art Terry Pyles did for his biography, its a good book. he gave an autographed copy to me, it was a honor to meet him at his home and see all his collections from around the world and photos with world dignitaries

Thanks,
I had forgotten that he had allowed me to photograph his house and medals. I had not looked in the folder for years. When I saw what I had I was amazed I had allowed that to slip my mind. It was a really odd coincidence that he was my doc's dad and I painted warplanes. I didn't know Dallas has any Aces living in the area, turns out he lives about a mile from my parent's house and given the factory and bases in Texas during the war ..why not? Probably a few more guys around that have kept a low profile or passed away by now.
