Using Ebay to guess-timate

Post by warhawker » Fri Nov 09, 2007 8:59 am

I dont know about you guys, but since WM and TRU distribution system is so wacky I was wondering if any of you guys use Ebay to try an guess where certain items are showing up across the USA.
For example, as I browse Ebay 21st posting items and find an item listed that I know is not here in my area I pay attention to where the item location is and compare that to other listings on Ebay and even compare it to posting on this forum to determine a good guess as to where the majority of the distribution has happened so far. As well I try or guess to see how certain items move across the states.
Like when hworth18 out of Tulsa, Ok or Saberfan from LA make a ref. to something and I notice someone on Ebay selling the same item from those states I know that within a couple of weeks that same item may show up here on a Texas self. By no means is this an exact science. At best it is 'guess' of when I can expect to see certain items here in my area.

That is a smart way of tracking product.
Only problem with Ebay is not all the sellers put their city and state.
