Hi,
What follows are preliminary images taken from the FOV 2008 first half brochure. These images will morph down the road as actual product images become available and supplant these initial shots:

Is the Bismarck going to be in 1/700th or in one of the wargaming scales?

The Sdkfz. 251/4 was the prime mover variant.

Thanks for the pics. I must say that that is some of the best paint schemes I've seen yet. From the Spit to the T-34...all good. I was a bit worried when they started making the wonky paint schemes for the Tigers.

Between FoV and 21st this is shape'n up to be a good year. My Fiance' is gonna freak.

Nice :D I like the sound of the Bismarck and the new 1:72 vehicles. Unless Dragon beats them to the punch, it looks like FOV will be the first to offer a Panzer IV in 1:72

Well, if I can't have a Stryker in 1:18 I might go for it in 1:32.

New FoV in '08 lineup ( ? )

Post by MG-42 » Sat Oct 13, 2007 2:43 pm

* The Elefant sure looks nice. * 8) ... Different and exotic for FoV to venture into , too.

Hopefully this is just only the beginning for FoV to start doing this , as well as 21st.Century Toys.

* Question :
................... Is the # 85701 KT w/ Porsche turret / and # 85210 , 251 Hanomag / PAK 40 combo , introduced in 1:32nd. scale ?

These all look very nice including the tiny Bismark model. * + 8)

I don't know about your first question....but as for your second, the Pak combo looks to be in 1/72. That is based on the numbering. the 85### series looks to be the 1/32 scale while the 80### and 81### are 1/32. I hope FoV starts converting 1/72 to 1/32.

Yes they have - actually more than any other company in 1:32nd scale

Matilda Mk II (three schemes)
M3 Grant (two schemes, including Gen. Montgomery's tank)
M4 Sherman (One in British markings.)

This time around, however, it looks as though there's no new British armor or repaints. I'm still waiting for a Churchill or Cromwell in 1:32, however!

The Grant & Sherman were American design tanks
Don't forget the British were in the war from 1939 & not 1941 & made the Cromwell , Churchill , & Comet tanks
The British had some great armored cars to

Let's not forget the:

Bren Carrier
Valentine
Crusader
Vickers
Tetrarch
Archer
Bishop

With so many options to make I hope FoV and 21st C start making more than 2 new mold per round.

FOV has also made the modern British Challenger. 21c's only contribution is the Firefly.

Bren Carrier
This would be a dandy in my opinion. 8) If memory serves me these were also supplied to the Soviets in considerable numbers as part of lend lease from the UK. :?: It's not a "Russian" piece per se, but considering the rather sparse selection of Soviet armor available I think it would be a nice addition.

On a related note: Never underestimate the power of Lend Lease, the Russians tend to discount it's role as relatively minor, but most serious historians agree it allowed the Soviets to concentrate their war production efforts on proven weapons systems like the T-34.

Bismarck

Post by lightning2000 » Sun Oct 14, 2007 7:35 am

Hi,
I'm guessing the Bismarck will be produced in 1:700 scale, which is the same as the Tamiya Waterline series. That would make it roughly 12 inches long, making it a nice display piece. We dont have word on pricing, date of availability or definitive pricing, so its just a picture from their catalog and some conjecture on my part.

If the detail is as good as the Tamiya series, then I believe they have another hit on their hands. No word if its going to be a waterline version or full draught replica, but here again I'm guessing its a waterline mock-up so guys can wargame with it.

US Armament Industry

Post by lightning2000 » Sun Oct 14, 2007 10:50 am

Hi,
Much is made about the US armaments industry outpacing that of the Axis powers but I have to tell you that if it werent for the British, I'm not so sure our equipment would have been as useful on the battlefield as some people say. The British had to modify the M3 Lee and turn it into the M3 Grant before it could serve any useful purpose. The same goes for the M4 Sherman, when they upgunned it to the Firefly. Then, of course, it was the marriage of the British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine with the P-51 Mustang airframe that turned it into a legendary fighter. Lastly, the British provided us with their knowledge of radar as part of the early Lend-Lease agreement with Britain in return for all those obsolete destroyers. Makes you wonder how far we really would have gotten had it not been for their assistance.

As far as a Russian M3 Lee goes, you can always strip off the present set of decals and apply Russkie emblems. As a stand alone product, I'm not sure how a Soviet modified M3 Lee would do at the retail level, wedding Russian logos with a poorly performing vehicle.

Oh, I have a set of decals all ready to go whenever I find another Lee at Target. :D I just thought it would be an easy repaint for a vehicle that doesn't have much inherent variety, especially since the only 1/32 Russian tank we have is the T-34. But you're right, it's easy to forget that these are primarily mass-market items that depend on "box office." A "poorly performing vehicle" like the Elefant can find its way into the line-up because it's German, and German stuff always sells.
Yep German stuff always sells & British does not

Deuce

Post by lightning2000 » Sun Oct 14, 2007 11:42 am

yep, if need be, you can marry up the FOV Deuce with the 21st Long Tom or Howitzer. While a M4 tractor would be correct, I dont think anyone will say boo to a nice Deuce pulling that arty...

Frankly, I'm surprised 21st didnt come out with an M4 at the same time they released their arty...
