How big is yours (collection)?

Post by olifant » Fri Jul 20, 2007 10:13 am

I am wondering how bad my collecting disease is compared to the others here. I have only 5 1/18 AC, 18 1/32 AC, 15 1/72 AC, 70 1/32 vehicles and 25 1/72 vehicles. My wife both wants me in therapy and the collection out of my (her) office and spare bedroom. I can't wait until the kids start to leave so I have more room.

Is it terminal?

Of course it's terminal. Everything is.

You don't expect to collect forever, do you?

But get a basement and a storage facility.

My collection now ranges around the 325 mark, with the majority being 1/72 scale, but I also have 50 or so 1/48, 1/32, 1/24 and 1/18 planes..
My wife ignores my hobby hoping it'll go away...

26 1:32 AFVs
03 1:32 guns (IG.18, PaK 40, 88mm)
07 1:72 planes
33 1:72 AFVs
01 1:48 AFV

So altogether, 70 items. It sounds like a lot, but it doesn't look like it.

71 if I get the 21C Firefly.

Oh, and yes, I would call it terminal considering that your wife will kill you if you take over more space in your home ;)

Since you said 1:72 and up, I think mine should fall in the X-Large category

This for vehicles/aircraft only or are figures to be counted?

I just got into 1:32 back in march or so and 1:72 aircraft recently. MUCH easier to collect if you don't have a lot of room!

I have twenty 1:72 aircraft, mostly Corgi and Easy Model. I just picked up the Corgi Fighter Ace series Capt Robin Olds P-38 and it is just awesome! I've looked at some of the high-end 1:72 stuff, B-25's, B-26 and such and they are really impressive. The hobby shop has some of the Franklin Mint 1:48 Armour series that are really nice as well, the Dauntless especially. As for 1:72 armor, my local hobby shop tempts me every time with Dragon Hummel's and Jagdtigers but so far I've resisted. Don't know how long I can hold out!

For 1:32 armor I have twenty one in all, mostly FOV Enthusiast but a lot of 32x as well. I suppose I prefer FOV but 21st comes out with some great stuff for the price, like the new playsets I just got. I have three 32x aircraft as well. I had a lot of 1:18 but I don't have the space and have sold most of it in favor of smaller scales.

So my collection is small but growing fast!Image

FIGURES ??

Post by ltcbj » Sat Jul 21, 2007 8:32 am

If we counted figures we'd be running into thousands, wouldn't we?

My 1/32 collection alone is insane. Maybe I'm insane.

4 of each 21 fig set made to day, 3 BIG playsets plus some smaller ones. The least I have of any one paint job is probably 2 and the most of any one type would be 10. Pnzr IIIs -3 original, 2 DARK A.K., 2 gray w/long gun, 1 gray short gun, 1 long gun tan/green, 1 long gun A.K.. Probably about 9 Shermans of various paint jobs. There's more but not enough space to talk about it.

I think we're all insane but that's okay.

18 pieces of 1/18 scale airplanes and armor
184 pieces of 1/32 (and 1/35) scale airplanes and armor
100 aircraft ranging from 1/144 to 1/72
124 pieces of armor or artillery ranging from 1/48 to 1/72
I did not count my smaller scale armor, nor my figures.
I get worried when I add it all up like this.... let's not do this too often....
