We were beginning to wonder if <b>Minichamps</b> was content to keep their military wares on the back burners indefinitely. Fortunately, it appears as if they're back in the warmongering market, thanks to their upcoming second issue King Tiger tank. Based on a Henschel design, the long awaited King Tiger bears turret number "314", which took part in the defense of Berlin with other members of sPzAbt. 503. According to the product announcement, their updated tank is slated for a fourth quarter release. This also means we can begin scheduling our customized King Tigers, which are tentatively penciled in for a 1st quarter 2008 showing....

Going by the pic on your web site the paint job on the new king tiger looks as bad as the first

Cant argue with you there. Schemes aside, however, most Minichamps military collectors recognize the inherent value in this line despite the appearance of some of their more garish introductions. For instance, the stripey Panther is still heavily requested, even when its priced above its original issue price. Considering what you get for the money and the history of some of their more notable releases, we anticipate heavy demand. That, and we'll be doing a bunch of customized schemes that will make loads of collectors proud.

Your right minichamps do make some lovely tanks & the king tiger will sell well

You can find our customized King Tigers under "the Motor Pool" brand, found within our Combat Vehicles section. Brent Dietrich does all of our customizations and there's usually an extra long waiting list of very patient people keenly waiting for their repaints.

We stock the Tamiya 1:48 scale Masterworks vehicles and they sell quite well. While they're a little light in hand, they more than make up for their lack of heft with superb detailing and the Tamiya name. I thought their 1:35 scale range was overpriced vis a vis what you could get from Minichamps or Dragon, so we dropped that range.
