in Reading PA next month? It's the first Fri-Sat-Sun I believe. I ask here because the tend to have a very good flea-market/vendor area where I have picked up a couple harder to find 1/32 pieces.

Anyhow it's been great fun when I 've gone. There is one pr*ck there who, I assume, is the owner of a real Hanomag (oh the irony) as he was the one stading by it. I talked to him for all of 45 sec before I wanted to pop him. Very arogant. Sad really.

There was also a guy doing subscriptions for WWII magazine, and by ordering you got 3 or so back issues. He had hundreds with him, so I'm gonna try to get some more from him to complete my set.

Hello H,
Do you happen to have a link discussing the Show? I'm in NYC and I dont think Reading is all that far from us. Not sure if we'd run a stand but it sure would be nice just to kick back and see the birdies.

I also think I have a few holes in my WWII mag collection, but not sure which ones I need. I think its time to get organized and get some more of their binders.

Oh yea I will be there Friday. Have been going for a few years now. I like Friday, not all the planes are in and the airshow is Sat/Sun but it is less crowded and I am ok with that.

lightning2000 the link is MAAM or mid atlantic air museum. Or just google reading pa air show. Lots of vendors and vets. I am taking my son this year and it will be his first time, he is more excited about going than missing a day of school. He wants to see the village battles.

Lightning, I use a Excel to keep track of my stuff. You can get back orders for the magizne from their website:

but you can only go back to 2004 more or less and even then it's spotty as to what they have and don'ty have. Don't believe what the web site says is in stock, you only have about a 75% chance of them having it.

I was thinking of going Friday and spend the night. My GF likes mini-vacations.

Also, Lightning if you do run a stand I can promise at least one sale!

Hi Everyone,

I'll be there/should be there everyday. I usually get the three day pass. Like most of you, I love Friday due to it being less crowded. This show is only about 30 minutes from where I live so it is defintely a close to home airshow for me. Sadly, Reading used to have a regular airshow that has somehow gone to the mothballs over the last 5 or 6 years. I take a personal day every year to go Friday. I always make sure I have one for this date.

It is a good show but unfortunately, the last couple of years, rain has just killed it. Two years ago it rained all day Saturday and then Sunday the visibility was so bad very few of the planes made it in and very few things were flown. I remember the picture taking being horrible. Then last year, it rained again, many of the planes couldn't make it in, and Sunday it was dry, but rain clouds were so dark that picture taking was again terrible. I am really hoping for stellar weather this year at least one day so there are some good pictures to be taken:)

You should be very thankful to have that rain

There are plenty of places in this country that certainly need it - some of those places produce much of the food you easterners buy in your grocery stores

Hi,
Thanks for all the info. I'll spread out the mags and see what I need. I know I'm missing some of the special issues. A few years ago, I remember buying whole sets of the earlier mags (1985-1990) just to get every last issue. Ditto for Aviation History and Military History. Frankly, I'm not all that crazy about ther re-designed WWII and Military History books, since being sold to Weider. They look more like "Newsweek" now. IMHO, WWII History now has a cleaner look thats more appealing to military history buffs.

In regards to the Show, I spoke with the misses and she said she wouldnt mind going. I doubt we'd have a stand but could bring whatever anyone needed with us provided you're willing to meet up at a pre-determined time and place. We'd be going Saturday or Sunday since my wife works M-F.

Yep, I will be there as part of the Cannons On Line group.

We'll be pretty easy to spot-We'll have a large collection of German 1:1 stuff, including the SPR Tiger 1 Tank replica, a 251/9 halftrack, a bunch of trucks, kubels, artillery pieces, flak and pak guns, etc.

Other stuff we're bringing will include Japanese artillery for the PTO section, a US M3 Halftrack and some US ordnance, and a Higgins Boat.

I'll most likely be in the German section-Stop by and ask for Rolo and say hi.

We're keeping our fingers crossed for good weather!

Well, like the real military, LOGISTICS are the key.

We are fortunate that many of our unit members have large pickups or SUV's with towing capacity and decent sized trailers. We have staged most of our stuff about an hour or so from Reading, and will be moving it prior to the show.

In addition, we have access to a flatbed trailer, so other then the Tiger, we'll be able to get all of our stuff out there via our own "organic" transport.

It's gonna be a bear, but we'll make it happen. We always do!

I'll be there with our group, the 25th Infantry Division. We do a PTO impression, army at Guadalcanal. Just look for all the bamboo and the 40mm bofors gun.

I'm just really hoping for nice weather. I don't think in the last 4-5 years it's been nice the entire weekend.

So what did you guys (who went) think of it? I liked it, though I was only there Friday. I got out just as it started to rain. I was glad to see some of the planes fly in (P-40, P-51, and Jap Kate-I think). I did some shopping and picked up 21st C's M7, and a FoV Mustang (blue nose).

I went all three days.

One of the greatest things at the show this year in my opinion was the wonderful 1940's home display that was set up in the smaller storage building near the O Club. If you took the time to go in there and look around, the collection of vintage items was amazing. Very nicely done and an interesting part of World War II in its own right. My favorite part of the show this year and I have also always liked the Gulf Gas Station.

It was nice to see the Hawker Hurricane show up. A very rare and cool airplane to come to the weekend. Usual airplanes were also there. Airplane wise the show could be a little better, but the collection of everything was pretty good. I loved the Mercedes German staff car whoever had that, very very cool!

One of the better shows in recent years. Except for the damn heat! Those of you that came to PA got a taste of the muggy PA heat and the evening severe weather that goes along with it. Great show though and I never miss it.

I went on Friday and got out before the rain as well, I was a little disapointed about the battle, not a whole lot there. They said the big battle on the grassy knoll on the other side of the airstrip would be Saturday and Sunday, so it was a miss for me. Did anyone see it? I was also sorry that TEX Hill was hurt and not able to attend. The German artillery this year was awesome....Nice to see the Tiger, or sudo Tiger. All in all, looking to go next year as well. To the reenactors: Thanks my son had a blast holding all the weapons and hearing about the weapons and guns.

I was gonna go Saturday but I didn't get to make it. I was there last year, but this year it sounds like it was pretty good. Thou the weather was one thing wasn't sure what it would do if I went , so I guess ill have to make plans for next year It would be nice if anyone took any photos and share a few with us here?

Agreed, pics would be nice!

I was there from Wednesday through Monday, both setting up/breaking down and as a participant. It was a really good show.

The weather for visitors to the show was hot, but dry. Not so for us camping out there, we got rain each day, but only AFTER the show had ended for the day. So, we got blasted by scorching heat during the day, and drenched with rain each night.

My group had a great time at the event, our first time ever being there as official participants. The crowds were great, lots of questions and interest, and the Tiger and our artillery/flak/PAK section seemed to really be a big hit.

I was so busy with stuff I never had a chance to hit the vending area or much of the other parts of the show. From what I hear of others was that it was truly my loss. My feet are sore, my body is sunburned and dehydrated, I had far too little sleep, but I am still glad I went, and am looking forward to going back next year.

Thanks for all those that came out, it is because of such high attendence and enthusiasm that it makes all the work and effort worthwhile.

I remember seeing alot of these last year except for a few.The Hawker Hurricane must been a sight to see flying would have loved to see that. I was told the Lancaster wasn't there this year, got to see it last year. Thanks for posting the pics Coreyeagle48.

I'm finally unpacked, rested, rehydrated, and back to normal non-1940's life after last weekend. Our group does a PTO impression of the 25th ID on Guadalcanal. We try to do it all, including showers, sleeping, and eating. Overall, it was a good weekend, although just for once I'd like absolutely no rain. I've done this now for 6 years and all but one there's been rain at least one day. It wasn't much this time, but it did make things messy thursday nite after we finished our set up of camp and caused a lot of planes to bug out early on sunday. And..because of the rain, planes were not able to make it, more specifically the Me-109 from Canada. They had to land in Pittsburgh and there they discovered a problem with the brakes, and decided to keep it there. Anyways...here's a few pictures of our encampment and some misc. stuff as well.

It really sucks that the Bf 109 couldn't make it, but it looks like you had no trouble enjoying yourself nevertheless!

Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. The 37mm AT looks awful cute, and the Hurricane looks gorgeous!
