Several 1:1 mfgs these days want their pound of flesh from the model companies for their "brand recognition" or "likeness licensing".
IIRC, Polar Lights or Monogram got in a snit over their monster models until they branded them as "Universal Pictures".
What's next, no more Boeing B17 kits because Boeing is still alive and well?
This is all bad for us in the hobby, but the "Carrius" thread does make one think about what is fair.
