Makes you think.
Several 1:1 mfgs these days want their pound of flesh from the model companies for their "brand recognition" or "likeness licensing".
IIRC, Polar Lights or Monogram got in a snit over their monster models until they branded them as "Universal Pictures".
What's next, no more Boeing B17 kits because Boeing is still alive and well?
This is all bad for us in the hobby, but the "Carrius" thread does make one think about what is fair.
The Asian companies fall all over themselves for anything Whermacht these days. Wittmania.
Interesting thread on Otto Carrius over on another network..

I've actually considered sending Carius a model for him to sign. Interesting to note that he's not pleased with Dragon as they've made no attempt to contact him, while Tamiya has...taking time with him to learn more about his experiences.
While Dragon is an EXCELLENT manufacturer of scale models and other military miniatures, they haven't quite developed a deft touch with regards to customers or historic figures they model.

Otto
You would think that Dragon would have known that Otto Carius was still alive as you would expect them to have done the appropriate research before deciding to release the 1/6th figure & the 1/72nd CH Tiger. So its pretty rude really....
Otto Carrius
I agree, very odd that they would not contact the man. If nothing else just to tie into their product releases. I always see them bring guys back for their Dragon Expo when they release figures of them.
