Has anyone seen these sets yet? I was wondering what ships they have. I have already ordered a case of booster sets. Can wait to see them...

If you look on Boardgamegeek.com, there's a list of the ships in the series. It's just too dear for me....

Question: Are these metal or plastic?

Plastic of course. The largest ships are about 6" in length....

Good luck! The collector who gets all 64 by the cheapest means wins.

Buy 2 cases and cross your fingers. That's how you do it. A buddy of mine bought a case last week and said that he got 1 of each rare, 1 of each uncommon, and 1-3 of each of the commons.

I've been thinking really hard about buying this one. You can download the rules for free from Wizards/AH's site. I'm still a big fan of C-n-C's North Cape and General Quarters. I thought about using the ships for those games. The A&A rules do look cool though but still lack some needed detail - like ship facing which is a must to me. How else would you cross the T???

Argghh!!! I'm an idiot. I went ahead and bought a case of boosters even though I told myself I wouldn't. My interest in naval history and ships caught up to me.

I went to Hobbytown over lunch today and bought a starter and 2 boosters. They are sooo small, but so cool. This really caught my interest, much more than the other minis game. I like the level of detail on the ships for how small they are. Another stack of dollars down the tubes.....

A case of 12 with shipping goes for about $117 or two 1:18 aircraft online without shipping. :?

Your weak Teamski! Okay. I am too. These are just too cool to pass up. I am already incorporating these into my standard A&A game. It's going to be an awesome site to behold.

OK, this is where it gets tough to defend.... A booster has 5 minis while the starter has 9. If you aren't really into the genre, it's a waste of money. However, I checked to see how much 1:2400 GHQ miniatures go for. For the Bismarck alone, it goes for $12 unpainted. Compared to GHQ prices, these things are a bargain and can take a lot more punishment. I am really excited about using these in traditional naval wargaming.

You could easily incorperate facings into the game. Make up a rule that for each sector you enter, you can change the facing of a ship by a point (if you split up sides/corners, each "slice" would be a point) Then you play the rule that firepower for that ship is halved if the other ship is fore or aft. I bet you could make it work. Com'n You know you want this. You got me to buy into the land game, which was pretty abortive for me, hehehe.. This one is different., though...

A friend of mine bought 2 cases and said that of the 24 rares he has 1 of each and was missing 6 which he ordered as singles online. He also said that you'll get atleast 1 of each common per case and 11 of them will be doubles. You also get one of each uncommon per case but I don't remember the uncommon count.

Let the plastic meth addictions begin!! :D

That's what the Condor's for. Stukas claimed quite a few ships early in the war. Their toll on Destroyers at Dieppe was lethal.

Just as an aside to this topic, if you order a case of boosters from the online dealers, be aware that if they use FedX, they ask for a 'signiture at delivery location" which means you dont get your stuff unless your wife stays home, you take off work and wait all day for FedX or you happen to work at home or are retired.
I was supposed to have a case of A&A ships here Wednesday for my son`s birthday this Sunday and FedX is sitting on them since they are afraid some one might steal the box off my front steps and they refuse to leave the shipment at my neighbor`s. Everybody is safe except for me, the poor working stiff who ordered and paid for the items. Fedx can sleep well tonight, knowing they wont loose any money on my accord...

Sorry about the rant, but I have run out of .45 ammo  and the FedX terminal is 40 miles away, so this was the next best thing...
