Small Scale Military Headquarters

Was at WM today and came across 21CT kits that appeared to be glue-together kits & not snapped or put together with screws (the parts may even have been on sprue, I did a quick inspection of 2 open boxes & can't quite remember)...the kits were unpainted w/decals...the only two types I saw were of a Folgore & a Zero...the box art was nice...anybody seen any others...?

Nope. Sounds interesting... sort of like those blank aircraft some members clamor for.

I hadn't seen the Aircraft kits before, but I've seen the 1/32 Amour as kits.

Hi All!
At the Spotsylvania WM, bought the Maultier kit.
Looked at the Zero and Folgore kits. Very impressive.
Numerous little bags with parts. Moulded in a creamy
white. Cannot believe that the boxes are not sealed.
A sales representative from Mattel was on hand. She
said that someone should write to the makers of those
kits and get them to seal them.
Called the South Point Parkway WM to learn that they have
an ME-109 kit.

A new article on AREA-21 will be posted later this week in regards to the new model kits.

21st is looking to enter the model kit market with more of a traditional glue and paint application. The fact is that these newer molds have become so accurate that with only a couple modifications the Toy version easily translates into a very accurate model with a cost that is much lower than typical model kits. More news to come on this topic.

The main reason I buy 21st's products is so that I DON'T have to "build a model". Although I used to enjoy that when I had the time, it's just much easier and better to buy it built, get it out of the box, and start playing. I think that this is more for the "custom" guys. I'm glad that 21st offers products for everyone.

I agree.. I think it is great that 21st is offering kits for those of us that like to customize, but I wished they would give us a price break since we are doing most of the work.. I hope that 21st comes out with the Bf-109F/G kit soon as I have a bunch of 1/32 109 decals that need a home..

I found two each of the Macchi 202 and Zero Kits in a Fresno Ca. Wal Mart today. To me, the kits are sort of odd as it defeats the whole purpose as to why I buy 21c products. However, I do agree with what others have said that the kits provide a great base for creating a custom scheme!

I agree, this is a logical step.. Hopefully this is just gravy for 21C to get a little more margin on existing molds, not a direction change.

How much are they?

Found them at several WMs in my AO. $9.97 is a good price and the pilot is painted so that should help out the budding young modelers

Spotted both of these model kits today. I was surprised that the boxes were not shrink wrapped. It would be a big disappointment to take it home and find that there were parts missing.

I picked up one of each today. They are in fact not glue assembly but screws and even comes with plugs for the screw holes. One of these Zero's will likely be my Rufe project. Nice kits for the money.

Personally i have no desire try and put one together. Years ago I was deeply involved in doing kits but now with the other products that are out, it is much easier to modify assembled items that 21st, BBI and AT put out than do all of the work.
