Hey, guys... this is my 1st post though I been tracking the site for 3 months now... Just picked up 2 FOV repaints this morning, a Matilda MKII and a woodland camo Humvee w/ IFOR markings (Bosnia?). Matilda looks good though lacks even the basic weathering of previous Action grade subjects, sports a new 3 tone paint job, earth brown, medium green, and desert yellow in a slanted pattern from front left to back right and has high visibility recognition markings on each side of turret and forward on the hull near front idler wheel in white-red-white solid band and looks very distinctive. Overall I like it and it sits next to my previous Action grade Matilda. I should mention it has the stubby, thick action grade antennas molded to top of turret.... Camo also limited to upper hull on vehicle front.
IFOR Hummer is by far the best Action grade kit yet seen (by me, anyway), with a good reproduction of the CARC-paint pattern seen on US military vehicles since 1988, aka woodland pattern, and sports black, red-brown, and dark green. Large white IFOR stencling on rear and top hatch of hardback. Includes revolving turret hatch on top with working covers and , check this out, a .50 cal M2 MG, a MK 19 40 mm grenade launcher, and SAW (squad automatic weapon), all with pintle mounts to create your own version and are interchangable... sports big front bumper seen on recent Hummers (mid 90's) and includes the thin wire antenna seen on early run Enthusiast grade kits. Contains other extras including heavy frame support for MK 19 ammo and 4 ammo cans as well.
Best part of kit is the 2 man crew, one molded manning pintle mounted weapon in standing position and the other emerging from vehicle with drawn 9mm, looks very dramatic and are crisp in detail like those in more recent FOV Enthusiast kits such as the German Grenadiers in the winter half track kits. Here's the best part, their uniforms coincidently match the one I wore for the assault into Iraq, March 2003, with the 7th Marine Regiment and sports the plain brown body armor (vice the camo pattern) and the MOPP suit (NBC) complete with hood and kevlar features the desert tri color pattern fabric cover, one with goggles. If your wondering, the Marine Corps was in transition to the new digital pattern which has since become standard, we had both for the attack and it was not uncommon to see a mixture of unifroms in the same unit and even a few woodland greens turning up here and there. Those were good times, scary and exciting but now just pictures in my scrap book... Anyway, I hope this helps some of you collectors with an emphasis on detail.
