Small Scale Military Headquarters

I recently purchased 2 of the MRC 1/72 tanks; a JS-3 and a Ferdinand. I have several of the Dragon Ferdinands, but wanted to see a side by side comparison. I must say that I was pretty impressed with the detail, certainly close to Dragon quality. If I didn't know this was an MRC model, it could easily pass for a Dragon. Dragon has the edge in camo, but MRC is not too bad. The packaging is similar to Dragon in that it comes in a rectangular box with a see through window. However, it does not have the sturdy plastic display case that Dragon tanks have. The MRC tanks do have a short historical reference about the tank on the box, which is nice. The most striking thing about MRC armor, which has been stated previously, is the weight of these tanks. Extremely light. When I picked up the box with both tanks in it, the box literally felt empty. These are very light compared to Dragon, and no comparison, weight-wise, when compared to Admiral Toys. So, their worth, at least to me, is in filling in the gaps that Dragon, or Admiral Toys has not produced. If you must have a Russian JS-3, then it is a nice addition. I paid $10.00 for the JS-3, and $12.00 for the Ferdinand. I found some of the Dragon Ferdinands for $13.99 - $15.99, so the Dragon armor is going to be $2.00 - $4.00 more, but, in my opinion, worth the few extra bucks. While Dragon is also basically plastic, it is a much heavier plastic. I have not weighed these models by themselvs, so, Dragon's display case could be making it feel so much heavier. My guess is, though, that it is much heavier. Anyway, just thought I would share this.

LOL, that is the exact impression I had when I received two of the MRC Easy Model tanks in the mail. I would have sworn there was nothing in the box before opening it.

I'd like to see a 1/32 Elefant/Ferdinand in 2007.
