32X King Tiger...

I recently received a 32X King Tiger tank from a friend in New Jersey that he got from a KB toys store, the odd thing is that the camo paint scheme on this model does not look anything like this...
http://www.monkeydepot.com/index.asp?Pa ... rodID=8469
and the camo scheme pictured in the link is the only one I can find any reference to at the 21C website. My question is this... are there other Kingtiger paint schemes in existence, or is this some kind of mistake or oddity?? Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Scott

Sure can, but I am at work at the moment, it would be later today before I can post any pics, but I will do so at my earliest opportunity. Thanks,

Well, untill I see the pictures, all I can say is that there's more than one repaint for many 32x vehicles so if one was made for the King Tiger, that would make sense. Besides, there wasn't much hype for previous repaints, so that is why we may not have heard of this...

Are you positive that its 21st Century and not Forces of Valor? There are several repaints of the FOV King Tiger, but I have only ever seen that one paint scheme for the 21st 32x King Tiger.

Fair enough, but wouldn't it make sense that there would be a pic of it (re-paint) at the 21C website?? I dunno, maybe they don't show every re-paint of every model they have ever done, but most of the ones I am familiar with seem to be there. I will post a pic as soon as I can, thanks guys.

Ummm, yeah I am sure. I'll put up a pic and maybe we can put this thing to rest for good.

This could prove to be very interesting! I try very hard to keep up with all of 21sts German vehicle releases. I only have the one version of their King Tiger Tank. Is it still in the box? One possibiliy might be that someone swapped in another companys tank. I've seen weirder swaps in stores that people have done. If its a legit new 21st King Tiger, I gotta, gotta, gotta have one!

OK, I know you guys are chomping at the bit, so here are the pics. The turret number is not the same, and as far as I can tell this is not simply a case of "missing spots", it looks to me to be a different pattern altogether, but with similar colors used, except the spots of course. Whadda you guys think?? And guys please, I know the difference between FOV, new ray and 21C. Thanks

Yep, that's a new KT repaint! It looks pretty good as well
Also, the 21c archive on their site is not deffinitive. There are a number of vehicle repaints and vehicle types that have not yet been added to the website archive. Still, the current archive is better than what existed on the old 21c site

That's kinda what I was thinking at first too, but as I studied both vehicles more closely it became clear that it was not just a case of missing spots, the turret number is a different color and number, and the camo pattern itself is a totally different layout, although the basic brown and green colors used appear to be pretty much the same. My friend in New Jersey said he could get me another if I want it, and I may just take him up on the offer. Cheers,

So maybe I should look a little closer at the cluster of 1/32nd cold steel offerings at one of the local walmarts; looking at the model descriptions on the box sides I just see the items I already have- perhaps a closer look next time.
well

Maybe these only went to KB?
My brother reported to me from B-more about 32x at KB but I'm trying to stay clear of the small stuff and the recon was already reported so I didn't ask him to describe the pieces further than just their names. Perhaps there are other repaints? Anyone seen the JT at KB?

Looks like you have found a unique King Tiger ostkitten. I haven't ever seen that one. It would be interesting to see if this is a taste of the new 1/32 armor release.
Tell your friend to keep an eye out for an
M7.

I like it. I'm going to have to look for one this weekend.
KB Toys? When did they start carrying 32X. I was think that he got the switch-a-roo and got a New Ray in a 21st box.
Sweet!!

Guess I will get one, but I'm a little disappointed in the camo pattern. Out of town so I don't have any books with me, but that pattern doesn't look familiar. Certainly can't remember them all, but that pattern just doesn't do much for me. Think maybe I would prefer just a plain one color paint scheme.

Hmmm.... well, to each his own I suppose. I'll tell you one thing, I prefer it over the spotted scheme, which to me looks like it has the measles or something. Cheers,

The "spotted" camo is a well documented authentic paint scheme. Not sure about this new one. Maybe someone who has some Tiger books can comment. Even if I don't like a particular scheme, I prefer that it be authentic which this new one might be.

No argument from me there, and correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that many (if not most) of 21C's paint schemes were at least somewhat historically accurate?? Cheers,

Did a little on line research and the scheme is a somewhat fair representation of an authentic scheme. I did see something I had never seen in the dozen or so books that I have on Tiger tanks, a color drawing of a King Tiger with a lot of what could only be described as cranberry red on it. I've seen a lot of different shades of brown but never a red this color.

Some tanks were painted with red primer
from the factory as paint supplies dried up at the end of the war.
