Small Scale Military Headquarters

Are there any figure collecters out there with armour and planes collected to compliment the figures?
I love the 1-32 FOV & 21st vehicles & planes, but my sole reason for buying them is to go with my Conte plastic WW2 figures.
On the old board there were a few, just wondering if any now.

With me, it's the other way round. I like the figures to complement the armor.

I have a few of the 21st 32x figures, and like bboc, I use them to compliment the vehicles.

Collect both figures and armour...pretty much 50/50.

I collect both in 1/32 and 1/72

However there is nothing I have seen in 1/32 that I havnt got for a while.

There are a couple of companies looking at 1/72 figures pre painted.

Basically I feel that contes stuff has spoiled me I dont want anything of a lesser quality than theres, K&C is to big and for me frontline and britains quality doesnt match the price.

Looking forward to that new metal and plastic line coming out soon though from the ex conte sculpter.

Whoever puts out a line of painted 1:72 figs first is going to make a lot of money.

Unimax, the makers of the 'Forces of Valor' and 'Extreme Metal' lines, will be launching a line of pre-painted 1:72 scale metal figures this spring to coincide with the launch of their 1:72 scale 'Micro Military' series. I wouldn't be surprised if Dragon follows suit in 2005...

Lightning - Have you confirmed that the upcoming FOV 1:72 painted figs will be in metal? Do you any more info such as price point and number of figs per set? Any additional infor is much appreciated.

We'll post the info as soon as we have it. My guess is that they'll have prototypes on display in early February at the Annual Toy Fair held in NYC. If possible, we'll take some pix and post them unless of course the manufacturer sends us info prior to the Show.

My approach varies with the size and/or series. As many know, I'm a total GI freak. I enjoy the figures as much or more as the tanks and vehicles. In "true" 1/32nd (21C/FoV/Marx, Airfix) I really enjoy cutting, modifying or detailing the figures. Many of my 21C figures have been upgraded with better weapons, etc. I really get a kick out of making figures from the Airfix multipose or using them to modify other figures. I customized a bunch of Conte US paratroops that used to be on the "members section" of the old GP site. Despite the figure work I generally regard the 1/32nd figures as supporting the tanks and vehicles. In King and Country the emphasis is supposed to be on the figures, with the vehicles supporting them. Similar approach to the wm.Britains, they produce mostly figures, but they DO have some nice artillery!

I've recently been bitten by a "bug" to do some 1/72nd Shermans and supporting vehicles. I've been modifying some 1/72nd GI's from Revell and Airfix soft plastic figures. We'll see how things turn out when I get a few painted.

In 1/18th there were so few GI vehicles, the emphasis is on the figures.

I was told by my sales rep at FOV that there will be three four sets of 1/72nd scale figures; US 101st Airborne (Bagdad), British Red Devil Paratroopers (Normandy), German Panzer Grenadiers (Normandy) and US Rangers (Normandy). Each set has 5 figures and at this time, the suggested retail will be 7.00 per set, but this may change in the future.

I was also told by one of my wholesale suppliers that Dragon plans on doing some 1/72nd scale painted figures similar to their "Can Do" 1/35th scale figures. The figures that come with their LCM 3 is one of the sets planned............

word of warning - I bought an LCM3 set and the Dragon figures are very much larger than any other 1/72nd figures that I own. They seem like 1/64th scale to me!

Man, that is really bad news. I can't believe Dragon would be so precise in their vehicles and then get their figs all out of scale. Any chance of a comparison pic next to another brand of 1:72 fig, like Airfix or Revell? This reminds me of how excited I was when I first saw the Corgi painted figs, only to get them and find that they are 1:64 and tower over the 1:72.

Almost as bad as the way K&C figs tower over 1:32 scale figs.
