Post by ostketten » Thu Apr 27, 2006 12:31 pm

I just got word from my supplier that they have shipped out my FOV German 88mm Flak 36/37 with crew and my US 105mm howitzer with crew. These are way cool, and I can't wait to see them, take a peek here... http://www.forcesofvalor.com/product.aspx?pid=186 and here... http://www.forcesofvalor.com/product.aspx?pid=187 What do you guys think, cool or what??

Both are VERY cool! I would be very tempted by the 88mm gun & crew, but I have my 21c example with customized crew that suits me just fine. The American Howitzer, however, is a deffinite must!

Seriously, is there one in the works?? I for one would love to see it. TMAN, as for the 21C Flak 36/37, I am a big fan of the 21C piece, and I own several, and at $15 per kit they represent a superb value in my opinion. It looks as though the FOV model of the Flak 88mm gun is somewhat more detailed with features like the kill rings on the barrel and so forth, and I really wanted one for those reasons, and because it comes with a crew of 5 fully painted and equipped figures that are designed specifically for the model. At any rate, when I get it I will do a side by side comparison and report back here with a critique of both, and some pics of the Flak 36/37 and the US 105mm howitzer as well. Take care.

Ostketten, it's only one from my wish-list. I want to see also some guns used by Poles in 1939: 75 mm Schneider, 37 mm Bofors (both AA and AT) and other, but I know it's unreal in the close future. On the other hand, I don't care about the German WW2 artillery: I'm sure we will see all significant guns in the next years.

Hmmm... I don't know it, I only guess. We all know that the German stuff is most popular. That's why I suppose the "88" will be not the last.

Loving the 105...

Post by binder001 » Fri Apr 28, 2006 1:20 pm

Personally, being a notorious "GI freak" I'm excited about that 105mm howitzer! There's a short history of the M2/M101 howitzers (the weapon was redesignated in 1958) in the magazine of the group supporting the Museum of the US Army. Imagine a cannon designed through the 1920's and 1930's, finally started in production just before the US entered WW2 and serving in all theaters in that war, through Korea, through the Cold War, through Viet Nam and still used in the War on Terror (the article mentions the USMC still have a couple hundred available in addition to their more modern guns). That was a good investment of tax dollars.

Anyway, now maybe we can get together and urge UniMax to give us a GMC CCKW 2 1/2 ton 6X6 truck to go with our guns??????

We're with luftpanzer on this word. We were told to expect the artillery pieces in early summer.

In fact, we just got word today from Panache Place & UPS that our NEW Modern Series vehicles like the LAV-25, AAVP7, etc. were just shipped to us and are due in stock May 3rd - along with the new Sherman w/3 riders & M3 Grant!

No mention of the 88mm or the 105mm. ???
