Expected to be released in July 2006, the Takara 1:48 Scale Modular Tiger I Tanks are comprised of seven (7) modules sold in the Japanese Candy Toy format. Since the Master Cartons contain 56 pieces, this leads me to believe that these models are packaged like Takara's 1:700 Scale Cross-Sectional IJN Yamato-Class Battleships, namely, in 14-piece Display Case Boxes utilizing a 2 x 7-matrix. That way, you would be able to get all of the components for a single tank by selecting all of the Unit Boxes either from the front or back row. Whereas, if you selected unit boxes randomly, you would increase your chances of getting mismatched modules and be unable to assemble a proper variant. The complete set of tanks appears to have at least three (3) variants, two (2) Tigers from 1942 and a single 1943 model.
These ready-made models are most likely unfinished, requiring minor assembly of detail parts that may have to be cut loose from runners. Module IV has five (5) crew members. Since there are at least three (3) different variants, it is possible that the uniforms of the crews could vary to match their tanks. Finally, there appear to be cutaway features, such as the top of the turret that can be removed.
