I know very little about trucks and such. This is called a 'tanker' and it was used to carry fuel (or water). Could it also be used to refuel aircraft, or is a more specialized truck needed for that?

thanks danny....it seems to me though the trucks doing the actual refueling are a bit different. They look larger and have two tube like structures, one on either side of the top of the tank. Perhaps the truck in my link had too small a fuel capacity for aircraft and was just used to refuel ground vehicles?

Aircraft refuelers tend to have a bit more going on, with regard to pumps, valves and hoses.

The Bedford OYC 3 Ton Truck (the C in OYC is important) is primarily a water tanker, though could be used as a fuel transport - as indicated it does have the gear to 'pump the fuel' - though its has been used in movies to dress a set as a refueller.

It wouldn't look out of place, but it wouldn't strictly be correct.

Looks like the 1:76 Airfix kit has both types of trucks. I wonder how the 1:72 Hobby Master RAF refueling truck would look next to the Oxford in size difference?
I have seen it go for reasonable prices.

I managed to track down after all this time the olive drab 1:72 CDC Armour US fuel truck for the same purpose to park with aircraft.
Have the yellow version but it's Korean War era.

Like to see an all brown version of this Oxford truck, would look more authentic IMO.
