Small Scale Military Headquarters

Just purchased this guy from a local hobby shop for a repaint. I also added the nose tube, and a pilot. Now it could be display along side my other built Luft-46 models








and the original scheme ( which to me looks like a kid toy)

looks fine..........how much did it cost?

I did something similar with the Luft X Horten 229 model I got at my local Hobbytown USA store. The model lacks the large hubs for the engine fan disks (which were very prominent on the real plane) and that killed the "head on" look of the Horten model. To rectify, I added disk hubs to the intakes and repainted. The hubs were made from the tips of those little gold artillery rounds that come with the 1:18 scale PTE figures. I also put a 1:72 scale Hobby Master German pilot figure in the cockpit, or rather half a figure as there wasn't much space. I likely will not paint any canopy framing and rather like the fictional JG-1 Richthofen paint scheme, even if still a bit inaccurate. My mods aren't perfect, but did improve the look of the model

Both the HO-229 and Treibflugel cost about $34.99 at most retailers.

tmanthegreat, the Horten 229 looks decent for a pre-built model.
I paid around the same price of $35 US ( after conversion to $CA) for mine.
Too bad the Triebflugel 1/48 kit is too expensive almost $100US with shipping otherwise I'd love to build one.

I have a that same Revell model of the AR-E.555 bomber. Built it about 12 years ago after I purchased the kit while living overseas. I attempted to give mine more of a blotchy, molted camo scheme, but it came out a bit crude compared to your work. Good kit and a neat subject.

yup that AR-E.555 is also my favorite plane and an excellent kit from Revell ( I've built two of them). In the 555 above I was able to jam 2 pilots in the cockpit and one gunner in the back
