CNQ:
Thanks for posting the photos of "In the Mood".
You're probably already aware of it, but "In the Mood" was commanded by Sgt. Lafayette Pool, the all-time US tank ace with 258 vehicle kills---even more remarkable is that this was accomplished in only 84 days of combat.
Pool was the inspiration for the movie THE TANKS ARE COMING in which he was offered the job of technical adviser. He rejected the offer because he had sold the movie rights to another studio and unsuccessfully sued Warner Bros. for $1 million.
If you see THE TANKS ARE COMING, George O'Hanlon, the actor who played the alcoholic Sherman driver, provided George Jetson's voice in THE JETSONS animated tv series....and his cousin was the girl whose letter resulted in the classic newspaper editorial "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus".
Also in THE TANKS ARE COMING, Paul Picerni, the actor who played the Sherman crewman who hates the new tank commander, later starred in THE UNTOUCHABLES tv series. During World War II, Picerni was a B-24 Liberator bombardier who dropped bombs on the real "Bridge on the River Kwai".
Pool's crew called him "War Daddy"---Brad Pitt's nickname in FURY.
Also, guess who suggested "In the Mood" to Collectors Showcase several years ago?
