Well, I have been absent for quite a while. My collecting has been limited to old Roco Minitanks and a few small WW1 airplane gaming pieces.
I recently picked up a 1/32 21st Century Spitfire. I went the long buck on the purchase as I always loved the Battle of Britain Spits and of course the 21st planes. I was a bit disappointed with the canopy set up though. The canopy doesn't stay on, sort of like the Corsairs. I was curious if anyone had any ideas to fix this problem. I was thinking of adding strip styrene to make tracks for the canopy to ride in.
All and all, a nice plane though...

Maybe a little dab of Elmer's glue to keep it in place, but not permanently...

I used the model master clear plastic glue to hold mine down.

Elmers glue (white school glue) dries clear and will hold the canopy in place. It is also easily removable if you want to change it.

Hmm...I considered just glueing it. I glued the canopy to the side door but it still has a tendency to drop out. I may try doing some strip styrene work to make it functional and secure.
I have a thing about maintaining some sort of play value with my planes such as working landing gear and operating canopies. Too bad 21st sort of moved away from that in their waning days. The planes, while becoming more intricate and detailed, were more fragile and more for display rather than play oriented like their first offerings....

The goal is to be able to flip it open as if there was a hinge?
USE A PIECE IF CLEAR TAPE ON ONE SIDE where a hinge would be,
you can flip it open and closed as much as you like, you'll never notice it and it will never come off till you peel it off.
