Hello,
Has anyone tried to install a model railroad smoke unit in 1/32 scale tanks? I wanted to try to do this with an FOV tank in order to make it look knocked out.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I have thought of this my self. To make the thick black smoke would be a beast. The 21st tanks all have a pretty good sized storage compartment behind the turrett. Well on the Tigers? I have thought of dry ICE with some water but you would get white smoke? Guess I will just have to light it on fire!

I always wanted to take a large firecracker, place it inside a 21c tank, then light the fuse to see just how the thing would blow up in a simulated hit on the ammo magazine

I origionally envisioned doing it with a 1:18 M-41 cheaply obtained at Wal Mart, however a 32x tank would work better as they cost less and do not require as much explosive power. Now, how to obtain an illegal M-80 firecracker...

I WOULD NEVER INTENTIONALLY DESTROY MY BEATUFULL 32 SCALE TANKS.

Model railroad smoke generators don't usually put out very impressive smoke. How about putting one of those smoking insense cones inside? Hhmmm, destroyed tanks with a pleasant smell. :D

I've racked my brain too trying to think of a way to put my T-72 in its natural state (burning and/or smoking), and nothing yet. The "train smoke" is mostly white and has a very acrid smell, I know because I own a Lionel Train set. If there was some easy way to have it emitting black steam, that would be perfect. No chemicals and no smell.

I have seen models were they used a spun fiberglass type product and painted flames or smoke to simulate what you are looking for. Check your local hobby shops for model magazines such as Fine Sclae Models for articles and how tos.
