Small Scale Military Headquarters

Does anyone use these guys with 1/32 armor? If so can you tell that much of a difference in size?

Yes, I do. It's not too great of a size difference... But the 1:32 figures are larger. The Dragon 1:35 scale tankers fit better in some of the tighter hatches like the one on the FOV Panther or 21c Hetzer. I may post a picture later today.

Thanks Tman. A pic would be great if you could. You can find these guys cheap online but I didn't know if they would look unrealistic or not. Thank you for the feedback.

21c 1/32 on the left, the rest are Dragon 1/35 figures.
If they are not in close proximity, the size difference is less noticeable.

Looks like someone's been to Big Lots.

Here's another comparison with a guy from one of the figure sets 21C released (right) and another Dragon CanDo dude (left).

Maybe not quite Dick/Johnson (lol), but the 1/32 guys are definitely a bit beefier than the 1/35's.

Thanks for the pics. Does dragon make alot of different versions? If you switched them out it wouldn't look bad. I just wanted some better detail figures to go with my vehicles.

I've been hesitant to leave the Dragon/Can-Do panzer crew displayed on any tanks. They seem to be a little sticky. I don't know if that is the paint or rubbery/plastic material they are made with outgassing chemicals. Concerned they are either going to pull up tank paint or leave their on paint on the tanks. Maybe somebody can shed some light on this.

Regarding the stickiness of the figures, I've not had much of a problem with it in terms of taking off paint or leaving a residue. Actually, in some ways it works out to be beneficial: on my 1:35 scale Dragon Tiger I model, the crew figures sitting and standing on it will eventually "stick" to the vehicle and stay in place, allowing me to move the model without everything tumbling all over and messing up the display.

Again, I'm OK with using the 1:35 scale figures on some 1:32 vehicles as they don't look too out-of-place - and as long as they are not really next to other 1:32 figures where the scale difference would be noticeable. I have some of the 1:35 German soldiers and do not display them with 1:32 soldiers. The Panzer crew figures, of which I have multiples, I will display in 1:32 scale vehicles with tight fighting compartments (like the 21c 32x Marder IIIM) or in vehicles with tiny hatches that 1:32 figures cannot fit in easily, like the FOV 1:32 Panther and 21c 32x Hetzer.

It is the difference between a guy that is 6ft and 5'8".

I would like to see from all toy soldier manufacturers, whether it's 1/30, 1/32, 1/35, is make figures at varying heights. We humans vary from 5' to 6' whatever. I think it would be more realistic and depending on the scale of your choice you could have a tall or short soldier. In WWII tankers were generally of shorter stature because of the confined quarters. In other words we wouldn't have to be forced to mix scales. This way, even though there are varying heights, the soldiers won't appear like giants or adults v. kids. I realize it would cause the need for more dies but think how many more soldiers you could have to comprise your forces and they would not look odd next to each other.
