Beautiful build. I love it. I plan to do the Academy 1:72 C130 in future.

Looks like you did a great build on this, Jnewboy.
1/ 144 is a pretty small scale, but the C-17 is a big aircraft so kind of balances out.
Think your ex teacher will be very happy with this.

Great work on the C-17!
20 years ago or so, I used to go down to visit my cousins when they lived in Long Beach, CA and remember seeing the C-17 being assembled at what was then the McDonnel-Douglass factory (now Boeing). I think they just finished the last of those planes at that site... I also got a great tour of one years ago at Edwards AFB.

My local hobby lobby had this kit clearances for $13 and I thought about getting it but I don't have the skill you have so passed it up. Great job.

Actually, Jnewboy, you do need to put a tiny German cross somewhere on that C-17 model - just to keep up with the tradition

Whenever I see a C-17 I always think of two encounters. Recently, I was on my way home on a sunny summer day from Springfield, Ohio on I-70 west towards I-675 Dayton. Suddenly a huge dark shadow covered my car. Looking up through the windshield I could see the outline of the huge C-17 barely overtaking me as I was doing about 70 and it was down and dirty inbound for Wright-Pat. It actually startled me for a moment. It filled 2/3 of my windshield. I punched the gas and was probably doing about 80 as I paced with it for about a mile as it slowly pulled away. I was lucky I didn't have an accident as I was watching it instead of the road.
The second was 1976 while passing near St. Louis. I saw the strangest huge plane orbiting low over farm fields going so slow it appeared to be hanging in the air. I got off the interstate and found a farmer's dirt road and ended up on the flight path near the end of an air base runway to see what I later found out was the original YC-15 prototype doing touch and goes. I'd never seen anything like it. It was a forerunner of the C-17 of today I'm told.
Great build Jnewboy
