Armies in Plastic Taliban Figures
Armies in Plastic are releasing a set of Taliban figures on 1 November,They will be in Black,Blue and Brown. The figures look like they used a different sculptor than the usual AIP figures. They didn't do a figure wearing an explosive vest loaded with ball bearings, figure shooting a school girl, figure commiting unnatural act with small boy or a figure commiting an unnatural act with a sheep.

Excellent. I'm in. I have the 'insurgents' from Figarti. I presume that is what this is? (Similar to the previously released Marines/coalition forces.) I wish I had purchased K&C's 'insurgents.'

Here you go boys, a photo! Enjoy.

I feel "ARMIES in PLASTIC" have dropped the ball a little.
No PRONE FIRING figure.
No FIRING FROM WAIST.
No THROWING GRENADE.
Too few poses, far too late.
They should have done this set 10 years ago.

Couldn't agree more,I think it will be a long time before a US company will do Vietnam theme(don't know why they do War of 1812 figures but then they think they won that war,LOL,)would have to be a European/Chinese,maybe the Russian Brassevich company might do something. Both Vietnam and Korean War are under represented and both could offer lots of different figure sets, also again it's a case of companies that do VN/Korea sets in 1/72 but won't upscale to 54MM(which really chafes my chaps). For a different VN set try tracking down the Gun-Ho set of Australians, they sometimes show up on Ebay but cost.Gun-Ho was also staring on VC/NVA figures before they went out of business, they did some in pewter and were going to start plastic before they folded.

Re: Armies in Plastic Taliban Figures
I have been following this subject. At first I was excited about this line of figures. I have looked at these figures as best as I could and I do not believe these are the Figarti sculpts. I'm really going to need to eyeball them. I checked them out on the Hobby Bunker site as well as TSSD. The more I look at them they appear a little 'cheesey". Almost like the plastic soldiers that have been re-produced in China. In other words there does not appear to be a lot of detail and the figures appear too contrived. The quality just doesn't seem to be there. Am I being too critical?

No, you're not. They look a bit rough compared to some of the other figure sets that have been posted for review.

Re: Armies in Plastic Taliban Figures
Sculpting = 7 at best.
They look like a good match with the (4 pose) Russian produced Taliban figure set.
Russian made set = 5.5 / 10
Officially can I say, they kind of dropped the ball?

Re: Armies in Plastic Taliban Figures
I know about them, but what the hell am I going to do with Australians,
they don't even have anyone to fight!
The ONLY WAY to create a market for NAM, is to release 2 important opposing sets off the bat.
Then promise 2 more to build upon, then prey that other companies get inspired to jump on the band wagon.
Look at CONTE. He released about 24 Spartans with with no Persian army or Immortals to fight.
At least there is a new Athenian army about to be released by somebody else.
But nothing is really going to catch on, until the Persians are issued.

Re: Armies in Plastic Taliban Figures
I purchased the Taliban figures. Not bad. Not great, but they were needed. My modern US forces needed combatants.... The RPG figure isn't bad at all. They will go well with my Figarti and Fields of Conflict insurgents figures once they are painted.
