WWII Soviet military

For some time now I have been gathering Soviet armor, T34s (FOV and Britains), K1s (FOV) in addition to soft skinned vehicles. Regrettably there are no Soviet soft skinned vehicles out there. I have slowly but surely been taking Jeeps (NewRay 1/32), the DUK (FOV) and old Fords (die cast 1/32ish trucks) and painting them Soviet armor green and placing Soviet red stars decals on them. Not bad. I may paint some British and American armor Soviet colors (more Lend-Lease vehicles, FOV and 21st). Not bad. Now I have to figure out how to make some 'seated Soviet soldiers for the soft skinned vehicles.

With not too many new pieces out there, and especially Soviet, it's time to be innovative and overcome.

As for "seated" Soviet soldiers, it may be possible to repaint those seated German figures that came with some of the 32x vehicles. I recall some had the peaked cap (M42 Overseas style, I think) that is close enough to a similar Soviet type. There was also a seated German Officer figure that could be made into a passable Soviet officer. A couple of the other seated 32x Germans had the M43 style cap, which wouldn't look very Russian, however. A repaint of the gray uniforms into a typical Soviet green or brown could produce passable sitting Russian figure...

The 21c 32x Russian figures that came in the carded packs and a playset or two are fantastic in their own right, but they are all in "fighting" or "running" positions.

Painting those old ford trucks is a really good way to go. I think it's the model 1929 or the 1934 that really resembles the GAZ-AA and AAA(with more wheels). I haven't done those conversions myself yet, but I have the motormint vehicles ready whenever the urge hits lol. I had a buddy that did one a few years back, I think he even did a katyusha version, and they looked great!

tman: great idea. I have given some thought to some old Marx figures (actually repros) because all one needs is the upper torso with the doors shut. I don't think they'd work with the jeep or FOV DUK. Another idea is the Panzer tank riders from Can-do after a nice paint job.

OH YA?!!!
Well I have a 1:32, F.O.V. Soviet KATYUSHA Rocket Truck!
Remember guys, you cant wait for those lazy bastards to release stuff, so you have to be resourceful.
All you need is:
1:32 FOV U.S. 2 1/2 Ton Cargo Truck (remove the back carriage)
Buy any 1:35 Katyusha kit, assemble the rocket carriage and affix it to the back of the truck!
DONE!!
PURE PERFECTION! I'll post photos later.
