Small Scale Military Headquarters

Another of the high priced niche players in the 1:30th scale polystone armor model field is First Legion, which, so far, has specialized in German WW2 stuff. Just out of curiosity, I forked over $300 to find out what this line is all about. In this case, I bought a Pz. III which operated at Stalingrad in 1942. The models is surprisingly light compared to King & Country polystone products, but is very nicely detailed and is a welcome addition to my "biggie" armor collection. Here are a few pictures ( I added some light chipping ):

Very nice looking model. However it is Pz III possibly an J or L model. I remember Nichimo released a series of three plastic PZ III models that were very well made in 1/30 scale. Forgot to add they were released in the mid 70's.

Quite right about it being a Pz III. I made that correction in my opening post. It's a late version of the Pz.III---an Ausf J.

Never heard of First Legion, but I am not an armour guy.

Does look very impressive, Ed, though pricey.

I have heard from another esteemed member here that the polystone models have been under going some quite significant price increases as of late.

If it was not for the price First Legion would be what I collect.

£50 a figure : ( but in all honesty they are the best.

Does anything move on the model like the turret, gun barrel, etc. or is it all fixed? Not that I could afford one anyway.

The turret can be turned and the canon is flexible, but that's about it.

First Legion have two Ostfront versions of their PzKw III and two for their Afrika Korps range (one 15 Pz Div, the other 21 Pz Div). They also have produced a StuG III and an SdKfz 222 armoured car. They also do two T-34s.
