Question for long-time 1/32 kit builders.

Can anyone tell me how close the various big name companies get to actual 1/32?

Is Hasegawa better than Tamiya? Does Trumpeter win, or does Italieri reign supreme? Is there an issue of variation from kit to kit within each company?

In similar manner just how close did 21C get?

Also:

After long internal debate on the issue of scale loyalty vs collecting practicalities I have given thought to the notion of expanding my collection by adding 1/35 scale items that either were not produced by 21C, Unimax or others in 1/32 OR are not variants of already produced items, i.e. no Stuka zu Fuss because the 251 and the Kanonenwagen have already been released. By using vehicles which had no 1/32 version for comparison I found I was able to add dozens of pieces that would not scale too badly next to their larger cousins - and most will be absolutely unfamiliar to most people around here so only I will know the truth.

I have looked at items by Bronco and Italieri and was also wondering if anyone had opinions on quality from those two? Really like the idea of the 14-man German U-boat.

I agree.

We need a data base of all 1:35 scale models, comparing them to each other in size.
From largest to smallest.
For example, if a 1:32 collector really wants a CHURCHILL tank, it would list all of his choices, so you can get as close to 1:32 as possible.
I'll tell you right now the 1:30 resin Churchill is the best bet for a 1:32 collector.
From my decent experience, I would have to say, always avoid TAMIYA, for their armor tends to be more dainty that other manufacturers in 1:35. TRUMPETER is always pretty large, as is everyone else.
The most important thing, is that you have nothing else to compare it too.
Remember, even within 1:32 there are always subtle differences between companies, especially when it comes to figures.
My greatest 1:35 prizes within my 1:32 collection are: (all work well with 1:32 figures)

Dragon-MAUS
Dragon-THOR
Trumpeter-50ft. LANDING CRAFT
Trumpeter-E-100
ANY of the Italieri-PT BOATS
and the new BRONCO U-BOAT is going to be a sure hit!

MORE IMPORTANT TIPS:
AVOID TAMIYA - JS II & CHAR-B too small not to piss you off.
I wish I had the cash to experiment with other kit makes.

AVOID the 21st Cent. OPEL TRUCKS, they are undersized. FOV OPEL tricks are proper 1:32.

Defiantly get the DRAGON 1:35 GERMAN SKI TROOPS.
And all the crews for your ITALIERI PT boats.
