New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Pictures are posted on the Corgi website and better ones on its Facebook pages. The big news is a Vulcan in 1:72nd scale-----something in the works for years and finally about to happen. Here are some pictures shot from Corgi's Facebook pages of the more interesting---to me----Corgi July-December 2013 models. All but the WW1 fighter are in the 1:72nd scale. First, a B-17:

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Next, a BF-109G-6 that, I believe, is sold in a set with the B-17:

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Another BF-109G:

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
The aforementioned WW1 fighter:

A Wellington with Merlin engines:

A Defiant:

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
And a Mark V Spitfire---there are three of these in the catalog:

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
There's more in the catalog---several helicopters, a Mosquito, a Blenheim, a Dam Buster Lanc and a Tornado----and it's important to remember that the pictures are based on "pre-pros", not necessarily the final product. Clearly, the Vulcan is the big news----if Corgi can pull it off----as it indicates an effort is being made to turn things around in the faltering AA range portion of the Corgi business.

Thats great about the B-17. I had to sell my whole plane collection for my daughter, this may be a beautiful start to collecting again.

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
If it's any consolation Corey, I still don't have a Corgi 1:72 B-17 yet.
Was wanting a B-17G model, but this looks good.
The Bf-109G is a new tooling. Looks like they will be making the early G model without the cowling humps as well as with them.
Hope they don't F-up the Spitfire this time. The last one had to cancel.
It's good to see WWII 1:72 back with a vengeance. Hope they sell out of the B-17 quick, then maybe get another in the works after that.

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
A pretty exciting catalogue from Corgi, given their recent track record.
Most anticipated would be the 1/72 Vulcan. Going to be a pretty big model, and just hope it doesn't have the infamous Corgi gaps. They have a lot riding on this, and lets hope they get it right.
The Merlin powered Wellington is interesting, and I didn't know that Wellingtons were actually equipped with this fantastic engine.
Another great release, in my opinion , is the Franz Stigler/ Charlie Brown B-17, Me 109 combo. A great story, that is actually one of the big stories on CNN online right now. Probably the smartest B-17 model that Corgi could do at this time. Think this one should do very well.

Another Lancaster as well, but yet another 617 Dambusters. Think we have enough of these, but it is a 70th anniversary, so I can somewhat see it.
Best Corgi catalogue we have seen in quite some time.

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Corgi making a Vulcan is a bold step. Shows they are willing to go even bigger than what collectors would think.
It might actually be a good time to release another Dambuster Lanc as the new Peter Jackson movie should be out at around the same time late this year?

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Vulcan = When these were still in RAF service and used to perform at air shows, their displays were the loudest thing I have ever heard. During low passes, they would set off every car alarm on the base, and make everybody under the age of fifteen cry because their ears hurt that much.
After the type was retired XH558 was still great to see, and the star performer wherever it was booked.
The Corgi model has an RRP of approx $290 so will probably be about $250 to buy initially.
Dambuster Lancaster = This latest release is advertised as a limited edition in the markings of M for Mother - ED925 AJ-M , the aircraft flown by Flt Lt John Hopgood on the dams raid, this being the Lancaster hit on the way to the target and finally lost to Flak over the Mohne dam itself with only the
bomb-aimer and rear gunner surviving to become POWs.
RRP on this one is approx $200 so will probably be $175 to buy.
Kind Regards
Kev

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Had the pleasure to see the Vulcan fly at a number of Abbotsford airshows back in the day, and it was always a star of the show.
Unfortunately XH558 is scheduled to be grounded after the 2013 airshow season.
Just too expensive to maintain in flying condition, and the engines are reaching the end of their life, with no spares available. To custom machine spare parts just isn't an option for a privately funded project. Very sad to hear.
The Mule has the 1/72 Vulcan listed at $209 on pre order.

Re: New Corgi Catalog Is Out
Hi Snake
Yes - Last year of XH558 displays.
I'm waiting for the full list of displays to be announced so I can go and watch ithe Vulcan one last time.
I last saw it fly at our local air day - Yeovilton in 2011, it was supposed to be there again last year, but it was one of the displays cancelled after a problem with the engines, which I believe was caused by a failure to remove bags of silica gel desiccant in the engines before start up resulting in terminal damage to two engines.
BTW - F1 - it's back at LAST!
