Limited Edition Paint Scheme
Limited Edition Paint Scheme
I was about to open my P-40 in RAF colors and 109 night fighter then I noticed a sticker that said it was a limited edition of 5000.
Does anyone know how many are made of a non limited edition?
Are they really limited? I have seen a bunch of the 109E-4.
Are these planes hard to find, worth trading? Any coments?

I'm sure that's the case. You figure that just about anything that 21st or bbi kicks out is a one-time production run as far as the paint schemes go. So 5000 for each scheme sold by Walmart sounds correct to me.....

The recent releases are all limited to 5000 pieces. Right now, they are pretty common so the value is not too high other than retail.. But in a year or so, it might be a different story..

Seeing how walmart has about 5,000 stores worldwide, I do not think that 21st century would produce a paint design with the anticipation of only distributing 1 model per store. Yes, I know that they do not sell their products in every Walmart, however if you think about it, if they sold to 1/5 of the stores that would be only 5 models per store. You can bet that Walmart probably gets at least 2 cases per store.
Therefore, my guess is that a standard release would be around 15,000 models per paint scheme to satisfy the number of sales through Walmart, etailors, retailors and specialty stores around the globe.

They are probably indeed limited to 5,000 of a particular scheme. One can only speculate as to what will be rare and collectable. The "Night Fighter" ME-109s and various FW-190s are being reported at Wal Mart in Limited edition boxes, but then these same planes are also avaliable to many small retailers, so there may be more of them out there than just the 5,000 at Wal Mart. They are thus obtainable. Others, like the RAF P-40 are a little rarer. It seems not everyone found one at the stores in their area, they are not at the small retailers, and are therefor a little harder to obtain. So you may be able to make a decent trade. In the end, its all about what the person on the other end is willing to pay or part with for one of those planes

According to 21st's 2005 Catalog, they are releasing 20- 32x planes this year with 5 of them being "unlimited".. The rest are limited to 5000 with 5 more planes due to be released this year, the next Me-262 will be the "unlimited" plane..
The "unlimited" planes are:
RAF P-40
AVG P-40
BBD P-51
Undertaker P-51
"Black 4" Me262
I don't know what number is produced under the "unlimited" versions, but you can probably guess it will be 25,000+

I was going off the catalog page which doesn't show the RAF P-40 as "limited", however, I am at work, so I can't verify that..Foxtrot6 wrote:hworth are you sure you got that right? because on the box of thr RAF P-40 and the Black 109 it says limited edition. Limited to 5000
Thank for all the replies
Oh ya the 262 is already out, I picked one up a couple of months ago.
The Me-262 I referred to is a different version (4 previous) and won't be out for another month..

I asked 21st about these stickers when they first came out... Pretty much this is what they said.
Yes they are limited and yes other planes to experience larger runs. To what the exact quantity they would not say (for obvious reasons).
Teamski and Hworth are also correct stating that when it is all said and done EVERY plane is collectable in the sense that once they are gone they are gone. Pretty much a one run pony.
But for sure 5,000 is not really a large run and as such they have been dubbed as "limited edition" With offering like the 202 and the Zero I am having a hard time not diving in to the 32X world as well... Rumor has it that it is only going to get harder for me to stay away in the future
