Playing with parts/Stug IV...

I took one of my 21st Cold Steel PZKW IVs and removed the lower skirts to make it look like the 1:18 version. I always liked the look the Russian front tanks had. Anyway, I had the skirts laying aound and after shoving them around to different locations on my work table for the tenth time, I decided to use them. I found a lonely 21st Stug IV laying around and tried them on for size. With some trimming and refitting, I managed to mount the skirts. I continued the ambush camo onto the skirts and weathered the whole model. They really are not the right pattern for the Stug, but they looked cool anyway. I thought I would share a couple photos...

That looks really good!!
I think that StuGs just look better with skirts.
Supposedly 21st is going to release one like that. Cross you fingers!!

Like the background for the vehicles. I'm sure 21st will come out with a Stug with the side skirts.

I placed the tanks on a sheet of plywood and set it on the corner of my back deck. My backyard is located in the Ardennes Forrest- actually northern NJ. I plan on "sceniking" the plywood so I can use it for "portraits".

Great work on that Stug! It certainly does look better with the skirts.

For those of you who have been inspired to try this, the one thing I would do different would be to "flip" the skirts so the flatter edge is down and the angled edge is on the top. You could probably shave off the one small skirt section that bends in toward the sprocket as it, from what I can tell, wasnt on the Stugs. The one side of my model has interference between the track and the skirt due to this. Good luck with your projects and please post your results.
