I don't collect for profit, but I noticed a Corgi 1/72 B-17, Nine o Nine, sold for $577. Any thoughts on this price? Was it the history associated with the plane, number missions, still flying? Rarity? Appearance? Collectors competing for a complete set? Some combination of the above?

I'd say some combination of the above. Seems far too high for a 1:72 bomber, even a Corgi one. Wasn't "Nine O Nine" the one that came with the ground crew figures?

While I have a couple Corgi B-17s, both are F models and I regret not getting a B-17G when they were available cheap (by comparison).

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I lucked out and got a B-17G Mount N' Ride for a very reasonable price a few years back.

updated: And you're right about the ground crew.

909 did come with the figures, Tman.

It is always the most expensive Corgi B-17, and as you can see, fetches some serious money.

Not going to get any cheaper, and regret not getting one of these a few years ago for at the time a very expensive $300.

Basically given up hope of ever getting 909, but keep hoping that Corgi will release another one, as they did with Memphis Belle.

I distinctly remember my local HobbyTown USA store having a the 909 B-17, but that was now 6-7 years ago. Can't remember the exact price, but it was nowhere near $600  I was collecting Corgi at the time and had bombers, but for some reason I decided at the time that my one B-17F was enough for me

I remember someone posting pics of the "909" here a few years ago when it came out. Maybe it was Chairman Milo?

I thought wow what a cool looking plane, too bad I don't collect 1:72 diecast I would buy this.

Now that I do collect 1:72 diecast it's a big regret I don't have this or any Corgi B-17's yet. :?

I'm hoping Corgi releases another B-17G, and one similar to "909" or "Mount N' Ride". All of the Corgi Flying Fortresses have appreciated in value. Though you can get the British night bomber version fairly reasonable, it looks just like the Lancaster in scheme I already have.
