Hey guys,
I just got my Yamato from Gavman, and WOW! What a ship! Check out photos of it here:

The model came in it's 7 components, each box had a picture on it corresponding to the section. I don't know if they are originally randomized in the different boxes, but mine all matched. In each box, you had the plastic tray inserts with a full colored foldout and some other paperwork. Unfortunately, the whole thing is in Japanese, of course, and I missed out on a lot of really good info on the ship's compartments. Oh well.
What hit me as I opened the boxes was just how well detailed the model is. The plastic castings are incredibly detailed and the paint job was top notch. As I pulled out each turret, I was amazed at how good looking the internal details were.
You can see in the pictures how tiny a lot of the parts were!!! Thank god the quality of the model was excellent, or there would of been no way to add the miniscule parts to it. I was on the floor on at LEAST 6 occasions looking for AA guns that popped off the spar. I am so thankful that I found them all. Whew!!!
It took me a solid 2 hours to build up all of the sections. Of course, no glue is needed, but you better have a razor blade! Included are rubber "connectors" that can hold the ship together, but I opted to to keep them off since I am displaying the ship opened up.
I am really impressed with this model. You can take off different sections of the superstructure to see inside, but it takes a lot of time (for this lazy boy) to take of stuff to get to them. For $35, I consider it a steal. So, for you ship fans out there, this is definately worth the price of admission!
