Bigger isn't always better.

Give in to a scale that is going no where? From a scale that is simply dominating the market? I think not!

1:72 has been getting expen$ive. I'm cherry picking examples, but 1:72 M18 Hellcat has a list price of $39.99?
And a 1:16 T-34/85 has a list price of $99.99.

I was looking at an awesome 1:72 F-101 Voodoo from I believe Hobby Master. One of my favorite old aircraft, but the price turned me off. I just can't afford this stuff like I could a few years ago. The prices on 1:72 used to be low enough for me to justify a buy but no more.

Yeah I'm a 1:32 enthusiast, but as soon as I can afford it I have to at least get some 1:72 Imperial japanese planes, the Skymax Val, and the Hobbymaster Kate, and whatever obscure Jap plane I can get my hands on in 1:72.
That and the Skymax TBD Devastator, which in Midway scheme is becoming scarce, and even the Wake Island one is over $50. No one is ever going to make these in 1:32 anytime soon, though a rumor about a Devastator kit possibly from Trumpeter.

Probably get a Hobbymaster SBD also.

If I keep it to WWII obscurities only available in 1:72 then at least I'm not spending as much as the fan who has to have everything.

The biggest advantage of 1/72 is variety. The bigger the scale, the less odd and obscure you will find. You can get just about anything in 1/72 though the prices are disproportionately high, even in kits.

It seems that plasticgeneral is involved with the modeling occupy movement, please don't let him get your address or I'm afraid he'll be camping in your front yard

Have this Canadian CF-101 Voodoo being shipped to me in a couple of days.

Great to see Hobby Master complete the Century series of jets with the Voodoo, and the Canadian scheme was the second release.

I have a mix of scales, and it really depends on the aircraft as to what the best scale is. Don't do the single engined fighters in 1/72, as I find them too small. But the selection is fantastic. Prefer 1/32, 1/35 for these, and I have at least 3/4 of those done in diecast/ metal.

1/72 is a great scale for most of the jets, and the twin engined mediums, and four engined heavies.

Think it is up to the individual to figure out what scale works the best for them

Lmao, brother.. what you don't realize is that many of the 1/72 guys on here were once 1/32 collectors who converted to 1/72 because of the variety and the virtual death of 1/32 aircraft.

1/72 is the best for storage space. This is 1/3 of my 1/72 armor, can you imagine the space needed for 1/32?

I collect three scales. 1:18, 1:32, and 1:72.

1:18 there's not much going on there, but it is improving with the soon to be released Merit SBD, the just recent release of the BBI Hartmann BF-109G

1:32 is my favorite scale, it's right in the goldilocks zone, big enough to please a 1:18 guy, but small enough to include twin engine bombers, and soon 4 engine bombers. There again that's all models that have to be built. The pre-made pre-painted offerings in aircraft has been suffering lately, and really not for any good reason, as it's more affordable than 1:18, sold good in the past, but no one is stepping up and taking advantage of the potential.

1:72 is great because you can get almost anything you want. Lots of obscure but much needed planes like a TBD Devastator, Kate and Val etc. (you can't even buy a model kit of any of them yet in 1:32) The armor to match. It's stood the test of time and will always be the dominant scale.
