My great idea for BBI or 21st?
I would like to see BBI or 21st make 1:72 scale WWII ships, a Destroyer or sub would definately fit into a 1:18 P-51 size box and a battleship or aircraft carrier should fit into a 1:18 F-18/F-16 size box, I got the idea when I was cleaning my display and I set down my Matchbox Hellcat on my BBI F-18s box and the light went on . So what does everyone else think, and how about ideas for individual ships, and what or who's aircraft to use?

what's wrong with an 11' battleship? 
, I think 1:700 is too small, 1:350 or even 1:400 (to be comparable with Dragons 1:400 series) would be cool but ultimately a 1:72 escort carrier would still be awesome, BTW a buddy of mine built an aircraft carrier themed bar in his basement, with the flight deck as the bar itself and the taps are hidden behind the island, it actually has a working elevator, and the catapults are manual being made out of his old foosball table handles, it's the coolest thing I've ever seen, he's a helicopter mechanic in the Navy so he has all the Corgi 1:48 helicopters and a few FM airplanes on the bar, he says the Nimitz class bar is 10' long and is close to 1:72 scale so I know how big some of these ships might be.

At my local Hobbytown store a few years ago (before it changed owners) there were on display 1:400 scale replicas of the USS Essex and the USS Missouri. They were detailed down to the last - the carrier having Hellcats, TBMs, Corsairs, etc. all over the deck with the flight and deck crews. Both ships could float and were R/C and motorized on top of that! The carrier was nearly 4 feet long... 
I've seen the hobby lobby ships and they are not very detailed, I guess FOV, 21st and BBI, have spoiled me, and I talked to my friend with the bar's wife, she said he will be back in Norfolk on the Sep. 22nd, he's been sent to Florida to assist in relief operations in the gulf states, and when he gets back he will post pics of the bar, he loves showing it off.

I too, would love a ship series. My first choice would be a 1/350 square bridge Fletcher DD with a waterline option.

Yea. Gearbox only has made 6 ships so far in 1/700 scale. Arizona, Missouri, New Jersey, Indianapolis, Hornet, & Intrepid.
