Hi all
Just got it, and since 1/48 is my fav scale, and light armoured recon 222 is one hell of nice looking vehicle, I thought I will share some observations and pics.
It comes in a standard HM display box, same size as M7 Priest is in, with 2 screws holding it tight with the base. It is painted overall grey and represents a proper mid-production vehicle from 24 Panzer Div. during the battle at the outskirts of Stalingrad. I like HM didn't do 'scratched' paint effect we could see on first PzII, IMO it was over applied and made the tank look unrealistic. Instead I have noticed some areas of darker grey. At the beginning I thought these are glue stains and HMs QC missed it, but the regularity and no shine suggests these are on purpose and I actually like it. There is also some wash applied. The mesh cover comes in 2 varieties: 1-piece closed and 2-piece for open configuration. These are solid and plastic
stored separately from the vehicle, in a blister under the base. Flak 38 looks fine, it's bored and can be raised and lowered, the turret itself doesn't rotate. There is also some rudimentary interior visible and wheels roll
Overall, I think it looks great and a great release, a must have, considering it's same price as HMs 1/72 tanks.
