Name WWII - present military planes not being made in 1/72

Post by hawkonevoodoo » Wed Aug 10, 2005 10:27 am

I'm trying to compile a list of 1/72 WWII to present day military planes, preferably model planes that have not been made by anyone nor is in the works of being made. IXO is coming out with about 50 models, so list models that even they aren't doing. I would appreciate it if you would only list models that you personally would buy.
If there is a particular pilot or squadron associated with a plane that has already been made, please add it to the list but also add what makes it so special, for example a Spitfire or Hurricane that has a famous pilot or a significant sortie.
We all talk about a plane or pilot but we never compile a list of these, nows our chance to come up with a list. I'm trying to stay away from big bombers, don't want anything that would be more than 8 or 9 inches wingspan max for 1/72 scale.
When I have a completed list compiled, I'll post it here so everyone can see.

Please do not forget the other types of the Polish planes (Andrew, thanks for the P-11 :) ), like PZL-23 "Karas" (light bomber) and PZL-37 "Los" (one of the best two-engined middle bombers in 1939) or RWD-8 (trainer).

I would like to see planes flown by different countries in combat with their respective camouflage schemes. Here is what I would buy:

Brewster Buffalo (USMC Midway, RAF Burma, Finland)
SBD Dauntless divebomber
Macchi C.202 Folgore
Macchi C.205 Veltro
Aichi D3A1 Val divebomber
Nakajima B5N Kate divebomber

AH-1 Cobra (Vietnam, Israel, Desert Storm, Iraq)
AH-64 Apache (Panama, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Iraq)
UH-1 Huey Helicopter (Vietnam, Desert Storm)
UH-60 Blackhawk (Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq)

A-1 Skyraider (Korea, Vietnam)
A-4 Skyhawk (Vietnam, Argentina-Falklands, Israel, Kuwait)
A-6 Intruder (Vietnam, Desert Storm)
A-7 Corsair (Vietnam, Desert Storm)
A-10 Warthog (Desert Storm-Green Paint Scheme, Afghanistan/Iraq-Gray Paint Scheme)
Mirage F.1 (France, Iraq, Kuwait)
Super Etendard (France-Lebanon/Afghanistan, Iraq, Argentina)
