New 32X Figure Review

Well, here goes.
The S5 Germans are definately the best of the two new sets. The poses and paint schemes are really nice. We finally get a machine gunner that's shooting and not smoking by a bucket. They also look a whole lot better than the new German crew figs from the 88. Too bad they weren't weathered.
The down side to them is that the bases are the same ones from series 1-3. The return of the bucket base. One guy is even on the base that used to have that gate on it - the holes remain. There's not enough guys shooting. Only one. There's also a leader included. We don't need any more leaders. This leader is the same cat that has been coming with the new Cold Steel tanks. The guy that looks like he's the guest of honor at a firing squad. You know the one.
Now for the Brits good points. Three of them are in firing poses. Yippee!! And we have a new set of Brits out. Six new poses. Okay, that's the good stuff.
The bad is that they have the same old bases from S1-3 German and U.S. troops. The paint jobs aren't as bad as others have said. The problem with the paint is that it appears that they forgot to paint their belts and straps. They're the same color as the uniforms and blend in. Not good.
Okay, who's next?

I forgot to mention another down side to both new sets. I had to do the old "boil the water and straighten out the bases" trick on about 85% of them.

I love the boil the water! I have doubles of every set posed in numerous ways! It was the only way to get a pak crew!
I just came back from wally world. I went nuts today. Got to figure out how to sneak it in the house past the wife? I bought the costal bluffs set, it has the 75 mm gun and a pak 40. The crew for the little gun is great, good detail great poses. I also bought the series five figures and think they look great. I bought a second set and will probably do some new poses and paint them in SS camo. Notice one figure is wearing the anorack. I agree great figures! I also picked up the K tiger J tiger, and finally broke down and bought aircraft, BF109 night fighter, Me262, and a thunder bolt and P51. Lots of good stuff!

I really like the S5 German figures as well! It was nice to get some figs that accurately go with my Cold Steel DAK Panzer III, and can confront my S1 British troops with their FOV Matilda. Although more shooting figures would be nice, I like how 21c has taken the time to make figures in other realsitic poses besides shooting and running - the smoking Machine gunner, the guard with the road sign, and with the new DAK set: the running guy with the box, the soldier shouldering his rifle, and the waving guy.
I hope, also, that the new gun crew and Howitzer become avaliable without having to purchase two extra concrete bunkers. They would have gone really well with that column sandbag ruin!

I noticed on two sets of my German S4 that they have the insignias and my other two sets of S5 (from BCA) did not have the insignias. Anyone else notice that?
I wish that they would've put them on the new DAK figs.
I looked for that listing on Michtoy for the gun/crew but couldn't find it. I guess I'll have to buy two of those playsets for the guns/crew and sell/trade the 4 bunkers and PAK 40s - 3 of each is enough for me.

Its upcoming releases page 21st century in the vehicels section. There you will find the gun and crew. I too will have to purchase more, just for the three figures. IMHO these are the best size and porportion of all the figs?
Plus the three make for a great pak crew and mortor crew. I have a couple 1:35 scale 81mm and these guys work perfect. Can also work with MG 42 mounted on tri pod! Great figure set!

I found it. I'm going to buy them separately and not get two more small playsets.
At the risk of sounding stupid, what is an anorack? Is that that safari looking helmet?

Its the pull over blouse that laces in the front. Today they usually have a hood. Not sure if its even the correct term? Just what I know them as.
Some call them the smocks? I guess it depends on where your from. In any event the reversable ss camo tops that were worn in the field???
I also noticed that in addition to the guy wearing this top, he is also wearing the later war long pants that had the buckeled cuffs at the bottom. They covered the boots down to the ankles. If the observations were correct series three one Fals,= series four all fals but one Afrika K... now all Afrika K, with one late war SS or in a PC world Panzer Grenider????????? Lets hope.

I see what you mean. I wonder if this is a forecast of what's coming next?
I also noticed that the AK machine gunner does not fit in the bunker - he's too tall. I set up a N. Africa battle and used the top half of the bunkers for the Brits to assault and found that out. I guess it's back to the 251 MG guy for that.
I thought that the Germans with the camo helmets were SS? Oh, I mean grenadiers.

After much searching i found where they hid the figures. I wasn't too excited about the britsh soldiers but i did like the germans . I would have bought the germans if the faces weren't smudged (every box there had poor face quality on both british and germans, heck they didnt even try to doctor them up on the box art

)Maybe i'll have to go take another look.
