I believe you will be very pleased with your purchase...I have the "Black Cat" version and it's one of my favorite Corgi's.

The Catalina is another great twin engine from Corgi.I have five of them.

It has a large winspan, and the pontoons at the wingtips move. You can display them flush with the wings, or down.A nice feature.

The Black Cat is my favourite one, but there is not a bad one in the bunch.

Which one did you get, Sabrefan?

I think you will be pleased with it.Whichever one you get.

Give us a review when it arrives.

I am getting the US36109, John S McCain Henderson Field, Guadalcanal version. I really like the simple blue, with grey undersides paint. Very nice looking model.

That is great choice Sabrefan. 8)

The scheme you usually think of when considering the Catalina. US South Pacific colours.

I paid about $120 for my "Black Cat" ,IIRC, a couple of years ago.

I have three of Corgi's PBYs and, except for the omission of the pitot head---still can't figure how they missed that------these are very nice models. As for schemes, the Brits got better ones than the Yanks.

I have a 1:48 scale Black Cat and it's a beast. I have Snafu Snatcher coming (don't worry Snake, I ordered before taking your prescribed time out!).

I have the McCain version that you are also getting, Saberfan. I got it for pretty much the same reasons: the simple mid-war blue paint scheme and the historical significance of the aircraft (being McCain's and all). The scheme is sort of what comes to mind when I think of the PBY.

As the others have said, the Corgi PBY is very nice. The folding pontoons are my favorite feature, but it also includes the pieces to display the landing gear up or down. Pilot and co-pilot figures are visible in the cockpit and crew figures manning machine guns are in the observation bubbles. There is some interior detailing visible in the aft section between the bubbles and in the cockpit. The forward turret on this model lacks an MG or crew figure.

Just got my PBY in, and wow what a beauty. They really captured the lines of the Catalina well. Very nice indeed. :D
