I just won a 1/32 Revell F4U-1D kit for $17 still in bags off ebay. Woohoo! Seeing as how I already have a 21C Corsair in USN livery, I thought I'd opt for something different with the kit. The kit does include roundels (the dark blue ones with the thin rim of white and a white center, no red or yellow) for an RN plane aboard the HMS Colossus, but I was hoping to do something in a scheme other than the usual blue, if possible.
None of my Osprey books show anything non-U.S. in color beyond some RN plane from 1956. I'm not familiar enough with British air power and would appreciate any advice or links on something out of the ordinary yet believable on this particular plane (can the 1D pass for a 1A?). I'd prefer to use the roundels on hand, as I am having some issues transitioning Photoshop from XP to 7 right now and can't make my own. Can't seem to find pre-mades online either.
I have a Typhoon and a Beaufighter - neither of which are Navy versions - but could I use a multicolored scheme like that or on the 21C Spit on an RN Corsair?
21C had a British Corsair in 1/32. Could I get away with my 2-tone roundels on that dark green on medium green pattern?
Need paint scheme suggestions for Royal Navy F4U Corsair
