I'm about to start applying the exterior paint to a 21st Century c.202 Folgore kit.

After that I start my Revell BF-110C.

1:16 scale PT-17 Stearman balsawood & tissue paper kit. I've "super detailed" some components, making the cockpits from scratch rather than use the paper cutouts that came with the model.

1:18 scale ME-163 Komet, using a Skyworks kit. This is still very much in the initial stages.

1/72 Dragon Pz IV G(early-mid), as a 215. Pz Abt/15.Panzergrenadier Division "black 3" Sicily July 1943..finished the bottom last night 90 parts included in the kit, including some insane small stuff.

another Pz IVG in the box for a G(mid 50+30) on the eastern front, Have to go through my Trojca book on F/F2/G for a source, but I might go with a 4.Panzer/35.Panzer Rgt vehicle

for 1/72s I really like this gem of a kit. I can't wait for Dragon to get off their butts and put out the Pz IV H they have been talking about since 2008.

I'm kind of working on the vintage 1/35 tamiya M10. I say kind of because I'm using the upper hull and turret (which are out of scale and are like 1/31.5) and combining them with the lower hull of a FOV M4 Sherman, the gun from a 21st firefly, and the gun breach of a airfix 17pdr, to create a British Achilles tank destroyer.

I was making pretty good headway yesterday until I realized the vintage kit I bought did not come with the turret :x That'll teach me to buy a kit and not inventory it for parts first...

well I got a bug in the program for the project I was going to use the 15.PzGr for, Aug.1 to Aug.7, The Battle of Troina. Which was fought with the 15.PzGr vs 1st Infantry Division(US)

got the OOB for the 15. for August 1943 and scrubs my ideas of building two SPWs, a Sdkfz.251/10c(Dragon) and Sdkfz.251/9c(Revell)

this is the info i got from a friend in Germany today.
On 29.6.1943 the OKH/GenStdH/Org.Abt. ordered the renaming of the 'Division Sizilien' to 15. Pz.Gren.Div. to keep up the tradition of the former 15. Pz.Div. which had been destroyed in North Africa. In short:

Gren.Rgt. Sizilien 1 => Pz.Gren.Rgt. 104 (I., II., III. Btl., 13.(I.G.) Kp., 14.(Pz.Jg.) Kp.)
Gren.Rgt. Sizilien 2 => Pz.Gren.Rgt. 115 (I., II., III. Btl., 13.(I.G.) Kp., 14.(Pz.Jg.) Kp.), disbanded in April 1944
Gren.Rgt. Sizilien 3 => Pz.Gren.Rgt. 129 (I., II., III. Btl., 13.(I.G.) Kp., 14.(Pz.Jg.) Kp.), renumbered to 115 in April 1944
all 3 regiments were motorized only, they had no SPW available. (<me Do'h)

Pz.Späh-Zug Sizilien => Pz.Späh-Zug 15 (5 machine gun armed wheeled armored cars, exact types unknow to me)

Pz.Jg.Kp. Sizilien = 1./Pz.Jg.Abt. 33 (towed a/t guns), extended into full Abteilung only later during 1943.

Art.Rgt. Sizilien => Art.Rgt. 33 (I., II., III., IV. Abt.), all motorized, no s/p guns available.

Flak-Art.Abt. Sizilien => Flak-Art.Abt. 315 (1., 2., 3. Bttr.), just towed and s/p 2 cm and 3,7 cm Flak, no 8,8 cm. (well MAC's Opel 3t with 2cm FlaK is a go, <me> Div.Nachschub-Tr. 33

Pz.Abt. 215 kept its designation (1., 2., 3. Kp. with Pz. IV, plus 2./504 with Tiger) until September 1943, then renumbered to 115.

Nachr.Abt. 999 kept its designation until March 1944, then renumbered to 33.

Gren.Btl. Reggio (standard motorized infantry battalion with 4 companies) kept its designation. At the end of September 1943 the battalion was used in the formation of Pz.Aufkl.Abt. 115 and disbanded.

During the summer of 1943 the division had temporary formed a 'Schnelle Abteilung' using the 1./Pz.Jg.Abt. 33, Pz.Späh-Zug 15, a 2 gun le.F.H. Halb-Bttr. and a motorized Schützen-Kp. including a platoon with 6 SPW taken from an unknown source. This unit seems to have been disbanded again during August 1943.

I regret having bougth the Nafziger book many years ago. Still have it but only use it when I want to be remembered how research should not be done. It's packed with errors and misinterpretations!

The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.
