1/32 monogram Kits Questions
1/32 monogram Kits Questions
Hi, Has any one built the new kits out of the Lee or Sherman by Monogram in 1/32 scale? Are they the same as the older kits? Thinking about getting the Sherman. What is the track like on these kits to put together? Thanks, Bandit

Revell kits
I think you are referring to the reproduction monogram kits made by Revell. And as far as I know they are the same exact kits as the old monogram ones, which, if you were wondering, compliment the FOV and 21st century stuff quite nicely. They are a tad bit smaller then FOV and 21st but hardly noticeable unless you are keen to scrutinize. And certain monogram vehicles, which have yet to be reproduced by Revell unfortunately, have not been produced by 21st or FOV (M8,M20, sdkfz 232) and fit right in.
I have some big plans in the future with some of my monogram kits. I plan on redoing their 1/32 Ostwind ( because its turret is way too small), and seeing if I can mate a panzerjager IV superstructure with an FOV lower hull to make a more interactive model. Also want to use one of their M4A1 and M4 tank kits and mank a hybrid. All this is probably going to wait until I have the time, maybe sometime this summer.

Yes they are the same kits. I built the M3 Lee a while back and nothing seemed to be different. The M4, which was marketed as the "Hedgehog" by Monogram looks the same too, just have not assembled that one yet. They both still have the vinyl tracks, same as the original.
Revell would do well if they released some of the German stuff Monogram did. Time will tell on that.

The sand bags and lumber were part of the original kit. The "Screemin` Mimi" was that bare hull Sherman, the cast hull version I think. Shep Paine`s diorama booklet had a section on converting the bogies to the later version.
I have a Brumbar, M3 Grant, M3 Lee and the Wirbel in the original White Monogram boxes- still unbuilt. I found them at a military show for $15 each. I still have a couple M4`s, a Weasel, AA US Halftrack I built 30 years ago in my collection.
I built the "Hedgehog" back then too but I didnt care for the sandbags and wood plank "siding" so left them off...
