Collecting 1/32

Post by ram04 » Sun Dec 27, 2009 3:51 pm

What would you consider the most sought after piece of 1/32 right now?

I had got in the game late and have managed to aquire quite a few pieces, thanks to members here and various other menus.

Kinda curious what other members are looking for to round out their collection.

I think it's a toss-up between the F4U Corsair and the Spitfire Mk II.

Are you collecting aircraft or armor?
Many of the 21st planes are getting hard to find, the rarer ones are the US Navy Corsairs, some P-47s (Eileen, Snortin Bull), Desert Bf 109F, and virtually all of the Fw 190A/F-8s, but prices are climbing on just about eveything.

Its really neat, it does'nt matter what scale the Spitfire always comes up, what really sucks is I have yet to add one to my collection of any scale.

Okay Spitfire guys don't beat me up, I'll get one sooner or later.

I collect both Armor and Aircraft, just seems the Armor is still available, well, kinda, sorta.
Wish I had got in the game years ago.

Hey ram04,

There are a couple of different routes you can take.

21 Century does a pretty nice 1/32,but it is all plastic. You can get them fairly cheap, and they are good value.
Not sure on the rare ones though.
Their FW 190's are really good.

You can go with Corgi 1/32.
Almost all metal, with just a few plastic parts.
Most are limited edition as well.
And they come with a nice display stand,so you can display "in flight"
They are quite heavy, and are very well done.
Basically the "standard" of the hobby.
However, they have only done the Spitfire,Hurricane,Me 109,P-51,and Mosquito.
Other than the Mosquito,Corgi did about 6 examples of each of these planes.

You can also go with GMP.These are 1/35 scale. Also limited edition.
Very well done, and better than Corgi.
However they only did the P-40[4 examples],and the P-51[8 examples].
I highly recommend the GMP line, but the prices range from about $80,up to $350,for the highly sought after ones.

I would personally recommend the Corgi Spitfire,Me 109,or P-51.to start with.
:D

I wouldn't mind having a few Corgi's that aren't made anywhere else in 1:32 scale like at least a Hurricane. Is there any other aircraft in that scale not made once by 21st?

I've got quite a lot of 21st 1:32, but still missing the Corsair vs Zero Dogfight 2pk.

I think the Corsair is a repack, but the Zero is a variation that I don't have to round out the complete Zero releases.

In the 21st Century armor, I need a M18 hellcat, as for the 1/32 planes I think I got at least 1 plane out of all the various paint schemes in the 21st Century line.

I would reckon that the FOV Pershing would be at least in the top five "hardest to get", maybe even number one. I would love to see them reissue that one. 8)

Corgi made a 1/32 Mosquito. Fantastic piece. Really big. Figarti makes a 1/32 B-17, unbelievable and very expensive. 21st never made these...
