New Axis & Allies game 8/28

Post by cruizin2000 » Sun Jun 05, 2005 7:51 am

Hi guys,

Is there any wargamers on this site?

I found that Wizards of the Coast is releasing a new collectible (yikes!!) WWII 15mm game using the A&A name. A&A miniatures.

There's supposed to be 48 pieces in the initial release that will cover U.S., German, Russian, Japanese, British, and Italian forces. These will be pre-painted 15mm armor, support vehicles, and troops. And in December there will be new boosters with 48 more pieces to collect and trade for.

From what I remember, there will be Hellcats, Shermans, SiG guns, Crusaders, Tigers, Pnzr IIs, Ko Go, and a few others.

The starters sets, which will have 4 two sided maps, 12 figures, dice, and figure cards will be $24.99 and the boosters will have 9 figures and will be $14.99.

This sounds great when you think of the prices of Flames of War pieces which are $8 each and you have to paint them.

I got burnt awhile back my playing/collecting Mage Knight pieces as they changed the rules on us and made most of the figs useless. At least with this game you can use the tanks and men for other games as well.

So, who are the gamers here and what games do you play or what rule sets do you use?

I use my 32X stuff and play Skirmish. These were free and I found them at freewargamesrules.uk. They have a ton of free rule sets from every period of time. The Skirmish rules work pretty good with 1/72 and XD if you have the space as 1/32 rifles have a range of 100".

I wargame, but not in 15mm. I wargame in 20mm (1/76, 1/72) and use alot of the Dragon Armor for my tanks (of course alot of other ranges too since I don't like using large German tanks all the time).

I also prefer skirmishes (1:1 ratio) and have played around with Battleground and Panzer Marsch for the rules.

Is there a link where we can see pictures of this new set?

Want pictures? Sure you do!!

http://www.avalonhill.com

There's a new article (top right) that talks about the Humber A/C and it shows a picture of it. There's also a press release under that.

If you go to "community" to the left on the main page you can scroll down to the A&A Mini section. There's a topic that shows pictures and it takes you to wargamer.com (I think that's the site) and they tell you more about what to expect from the game. There's a pic of the light Japanese tank, the Hellcat, and the Crusader.

And yes, A&A rules!! I like the revised version as well as A&A: D-Day. Ever try Memoir '44??? Great game!! It's just like Battle Cry except it's WWI in 10mm. Pnzr IVs, Shermans, PAK guns, hedgehogs, etc.

I'm not wanting to rush or wish the summer away but I cannot wait to get my hands on this one. There's also supposed to be two kinds of starter sets - one for ETO and one for PTO.

Happy reading!!!

I'm a big Axis and Allies/World At War fan! My buddies and I play once every couple of weeks. We make custom maps and peices like shore batteries and light carriers. Great news about the new game. I was getting pretty tired of painting GHQ armor and planes for my war games.

There's new pics of some of the tanks.

They show the T-34 and the German SiG guns.

I'm going to be bankrupt and living in a cardboard box once these puppies hit the shelves!!

Can I get a roommate?

Yippee!!! AH has posted the complete rule book. The rule book also shows what figs will be in the starter set.

It should contain -
M4A1 Sherman, Pnzr IV, PAK 38, "Red Devil" Capt., SS Haupsturmfuhrer, M1 Garand rifle, bazooka, Vickers MG team, Mauser Kar 98K, and German MG 42 team.

I'll have to buy a couple of boosters when I get the starter set.

I'm sure that everyone's sick of reading this but, I CANNOT WAIT!!!

New A&A

Post by cruizin2000 » Fri Jul 29, 2005 10:57 am

Gameoutfitters.com seems to be the cheapest for pre-sales.

A starter is MSRP is $24.99 and I got mine for $17.00 and a case of boosters is $178 and I bought mine for $106.

So, that's $135 total for the starter and the 12 boosters. You get 120 pieces total. Not too shabby!!

Ok, Kamikaze, I'll be ready for when you come up.

:D

gameoutfitters.com doesn't seem to be a valid address. I typed it in and got a domain indicating the name to be for sale, not selling.

Hee hee hee.

I figure that if I buy the starter (includes 12 minis) and a case of 12 boosters (108 minis total) and there is 48 different pieces to collect, that that would give me atleast 2 of each piece to fight with.

I know that there is atleast 1 rare piece in each booster as well as 2 uncommons (?) and 6 commons (?). The tanks seem to be the rares, like the Tiger and the KV-1, and uncommons, like the Sherman and Pnzr IV. So, I'll have 13 rares and a good chance to get a Tiger or a T-34.

You didn't buy a case? Hmmmm, play for a steak dinner???

I'll wait on this until I see more of the miniatures. So far, I've only seen a few tanks, no troops. If you have any sites with additional pictures, let me know.

Right now, my money is invested in Wave 2 and 2.5 for Heroscape!

Excellent, thanks for the site! It's the first good look at the game. I want to get into it, but it's collectible  .

I wonder if the hexes are too big for using Heroscape. If heroscape works, this would be a serious consideration!
