BCA has the new FOV 1:72 Sherman, Curchill, T-27 and M1A1 for $11.95. From the pictures those looked pretty nice! I'm sure thye other retailers have gotten theirs as well.

My question to anyone who has one...how much heft?

I was wondering the same thing, what or who is BCA?

Forces of Valor is carried at the local Hobby Land and Toys R Us in my area. Anyone know when Toys R Us will be getting their first shipment of 1/72? I already tried Hobby Land and they haven't received stock on them yet.

The pics at Badcataviation (BCA) are the same promo pics distributed by FOV earlier this year.. I don't think Rob has gotten around to taking his own pics yet.. I have heard VERY mixed reviews about these and I will wait to see them upclose before I buy any..

Sorry about the name mix-up - we regularly began to use that acronym around here when some members on the old GP board got upset that too much time was spent laudating the good customer service of that store - it also saves time typing the full name

I have heard that they are metal, but just not very impressive when compared to it's current competition, I.E. Matchbox/Dragon.. But, as I said, I will have to see these for myself before I condemn them to the lower pits of "heck"..lol

I too would like to see original pictures of these tanks. One thing I am curious about is whether or not their upcoming 1/72 Stuka will have the swastika on its tail.

I picked up the mineroller Sherman and Churchill today from my LHS..
I have only opened the Sherman, but the Churchill looks pretty nice..
The Sherman is composed of metal/plastic construction.. The turret, mine roller, and parts of the lower hull are plastic, While the main hull is diecast metal.. The details look pretty good, and each comes with a tank commander that has good detail for this scale... The tow cables on the Sherman are molded unto the hull, and the finer details aren't as crisp as Dragon's stuff..
I guess I could compare this Sherman somewhat to Matchbox in quality, not quite Dragon, but I think they will compliment the Dragon armor pieces well.. Overall, for $11.99 each and the uniqueness of the models, because I don't see Dragon doing either of these anytime in the future, I would say these are a good buy and I would recommend them..

Good to know they are decent pieces. I have the M1A1 and the T-72 on the way, and will post a review when they arrive next week. I don't normally collect 1:72 armor, but I liked the idea of the complimentary modern vehicles, plus the fact that they come with a commander figure. They'll also display well in the small amount of space I have.

The shop also had the modern stuff.. Both pieces looked pretty good, although I don't collect them..

I still haven't seen these in person and am waiting for the local stores to get them in stock to buy them. However, on another forum I often frequent there were the following comments made by people that have actually purchased these and have taken them out of the box and examined them closely.

The FOV vehicles are not as good as Dragon. The details such as spare track and tow cables are cast on and the overall finish is a bit shiny. One noticable problem with the Churchill is a seam between the lower and upper hulls that is glaring on the front of the vehicle.

Though not as good as Dragon, I like the FOV vehicles and would use them for gaming. I think stowage and a spray of dull coat would help the appearance. What I dislike the most is the plastic tank commander sticking out of the hatch. I will eventually work out a way of removing him.

I saw the FOV vehicles last saturday and thought they were poor quality compared with dragon ,the finish was very shinny and the crew figs were crap

On the Churchill I really thought the seams on the vehicle were too obvious, but stowage or filler could be used to hide this.

They really look nothing like the photos which i think are of the bigger models. And to be honest i was shocked( not a easy thing to happen to me as i take things in my stride) at how glossy and small they were.

When i saw them in the model shop last saturday i had a good look and they were not up to dragon standards in anyway,they looked cheap and crude,and the photos that were used to promote the tanks were not the same as what you get as i suspect they may have used the pictures of the 1/32 scale stuff or versions that were not produced such as pre production models( they may have cut corners to keep down production costs hence the difference)the models i saw looked totaly different.

I compared a Matchbox 1/72 Sherman with my FOV Sherman, and the FOV Sherman is slightly smaller. The crew figures are lousy and I would have preferred no t/c figure sticking out of the hatch. I am considering pulling the t/c out of the tank. The Sherman mine-roller can be removed, but you will have to fill in holes in the front of the hull and suspension and remove a piece of stowage sticking out from the hull.

I am VERY picky about what I buy, but as I have learned, each to his own.. Some will Love these, some will hate them.. I like them, and that was enough for me to spend the money to buy them..

I picked the Churchill and the Sherman yesterday. Not to bad on the detail
but they are not that heavy. I bought them just because I need the allied armor. It beats building them from scratch. I really need the T-34's.

I got the M1A1 Abrams and the T-72 yesterday. This is my first 1:72 armor (having previously only focused on 1:72 aircraft) so I can't really compare them to anything else. They look nice to me and compliment each other well. The figure in the hatch is also a nice touch.

However, to anyone else that got the M1 Abrams, was there supposed to be a hatch behind the commander? There isn't one on mine and nothing was rattling around in the box. One is shown on the picture on the box, but that picture is of the 1:32 Abrams. Many thanks!
